Adidas Sambas vs Low Cut Converse?
I’m wanting to get some new and lightweight low cut sneakers but idk what to get. I’ve been considering the Sambas for ages but couldn’t decide on a colour, also considering Gazelles or Spezials as well. Another option is to get a pair of low cut Converse in a natural colour tone, both things I’ve wanted to try (however I do already have a pair of 70 high tops). Which do you think I should go for?
Any suggestions/ recommendations?

If you already have chuck 70s I wouldn't get more chucks
I don't really like any of those samba colorways though, I think the white leather, gumsole, with black, blue, or green stripes are better
I usually steer clear of white or gold, just isn’t my thing
Wdym there's white on 5 out of those 6 sneakers
As in the primary colour, as an accent/secondary of course
what do you usually wear your sneakers with? my instinct in a vacuum is 'none of the above' because they're all varying degrees of focus pulling or really hinge on a specific aesthetic but you may have said aesthetic, who knows?
I often wear jean (black & blue) and linen trousers (green & grey) as it’s summer
I mostly wear ocean tones but I want to add more natural earth tones to my wardrobe
I usually go for a vintage aesthetic, rarely go modern
I rarely take photos of my outfits put I got a tripod for my phone to make that easier
Just a few examples that I currently have are from casual work days and travel
Just to give a few examples
i like the 1st sambas
The standard OG?
yes
Fair, how bout the Converse?
they arent bad either
Hence the difficulty I have haha
honestly i prefer the black sambas
i can see the thought process especially with your intended goal, i think that while the colors may support investing in one of those colored chucks, the style lends itself to a black or white based sneaker
Vans? Or Converse?
converse - i was having a separate conversation lol
All g
So the Sambas are a better choice?
this one person's opinion is: yes
Opinion can be helpful with some justification, it can help clarify my opinion/decision
if you're interested in cultivate this "vintage aesthetic" further it's worth pinning down what era and what subculture to boot as that can give a base point to either adopt or adapt the style to modern times. sambas are an easier shoe to pair with the other stuff for the time being.
Fair point
Focusing on a specific era would make things easier
I have been told that mid-century stuff works well on me
Or more accurately mid-century inspired
But wear it in a retrospective manner than absolute emulation/replication
Would a different samba colour be a good compromise maybe?
or including gazelles or spezials into the mix?
like these for example? https://www.hypedc.com/au/products/adidas-originals-samba-og-ftwr-whitenight-indigogum-3-wht?ref=Pfr5wt
white (insert name of adidas sneaker) > black (insert name of adidas sneaker) in this setting
though similar to what @GSH said earlier, i ike the sambas with white base/gum sole/black stripe tbh
if your heart is guiding you to a particular shoe then i'd buy it or at least go to a store and try it on. i think some of your questions might be served by actually seeing yourself in the shoes in reality.
Yeah that’s accurate, I need to try to shoes to see if I like how they look/feel
I hope they have a reasonable amount of cushioning, or could at least be improved with a simple insole
I like the gazelle indoor. I have a pair in red, but the blue looks nice too, and you can get them in black if you aren't going for a bright color. https://www.adidas.com/us/gazelle-indoor-shoes/H06261.html
I do like these gazelles but idk how easily they’d work with most outfits https://www.hypedc.com/au/products/adidas-originals-gazelle-blu?ref=tdFN5e&sizeSystem=usMen&size=8
Yeah, I absolutely love my red gazelles, but they are not as easy to wear as, for example, white sneakers.
Personally I would sleep on this for a bit. I think you're looking for a lot of things in one shoe which is tricky, and also not entirely sure on what you want. Mull over it for a while, and definitely try some on in-person if you can like zeo suggested
I think dialing in on this first will help you choose a shoe
From the images you shared it seems like white/natural sneakers could easily fit into your style. I wouldn't overthink it tbh, definitely try on some of the models you like in store and maybe use comfort to guide your decision
