connecting wires
Okay so i spilt a lottt of water from the top of my pc but the top is mesh so it went straight through β¦ my pc was off so i pulled out the cables tho there were tiny sparks
I then removed the PSU cables ram and gpu from my pc but its been about 24hours and i wnt to try putting the pc back on
Does it matter where the wires go in the photo

Bruh
sparks?
on motherboard ?
or contoller?
Tiny ones when i was pulling put the wites out of motherboard
But like pc was off
is it still working ?
the pc?
I donno i wanna turn it on now
But i dont know where blue and pink wites go
Like does it matter or can i put the wires wherever i want
No indications of anything major
blue one is line in port
mic in red i guess
and green is speaker
This photo⦠i meant this green and pink circles
You probably didnβt get rid of the residual power by turning off the PSU for a few seconds first
I didnt know i had to turn it off
Itβs not the most obvious thing so I donβt blame you but you should turn it off before you touch any components, especially if you arenβt grounded correctly with the pc
I put in the power cable in random slots where they fit
Does it matter in which hoels the go in the psu?
And the tiny wires can i just out them in anywhere where they can fit
Why is some of these pins missing
You want to plug the cables that connect to your GPU into the PCIe Connector slots and the ones that connect to your external hard drives into the SATA ones at the bottom
Thanks
How big a difference does it make
I have one cable that i think goes to the motherboard
But im not sure
I think the tiny wires i just plugged in is connected to it
For most power supplies the power drawn from them is different so if you plug the GPU into the wrong one it may not get enough power to run correctly
The gpu is a the top and the hdd is to the bottom
But theres a third wire
That goes to maybe motherboard or maybe to my front bottom fan
Itβs most likely the motherboard cable
The fans are typically connected to the motherboard and not the power supply
Mmmh ill take a video
The tiny wires i also kinda plugged in random
Randomly*
Hmm
@lyra pull up
yes
:val_CatBigStare:
Is it okay to start the pc up all at once ? Even tho i spilled water on it?
U have drained the power right?
Also can i slam the ram in any slot?
It was unplugged for 24hours if that counts
Is it plugged back into ur mobo rn?
huh why
Yeah
Help this man :val_CatBigStare:
Cuz idk shit about the wires
Is this bad
nah fill it with silica gel packets
:pandawhy:
idk...
..
U don't know where a random wire goes.
i might build pc's but i still dont know
?
fr i too
but its water then it need fully dry
I dont have any im 20 :pikasad:
Damn
So professional
Is 24hours bot long enough?
lol depends how much water it was
Whats the temperature where u live?
You know what the tiny wires are?
iom like 100% you set up the front panal wires tho
soo
front pannal
27 celcius
probably front panel power button
Do they matter which way round they are
Did u keep ur pc in the sun?
And position
Not really maybe for 30mins a day
it will fk up
yes.
:pandawhy:
Well
:val_CatBigStare: :val_CatBigStare:
I hope it turns on
Was mine correct :pikasad:
what if it Blasts
:val_Pog:
Run :pandawhy: :pikasad:
:val_WazowskiStare: jk try booting up
The wire int his video still is isnt in thi
there should be whtie text on the wires
Hdd led
And power sw
Another power sw
And other two have nothing
seems right
Thanks :o
Wait one p led is + other is -
Does that matter
:please:
dont tink sΓ₯
wait
That cable looks very redundant
The fans should be connected to the motherboard and it is so that 6pin shouldnβt actually be needed for anything
send a pic on your psu
This is not my setup
wrong ping
Its mine hehe
send a pic on psu
Like this ?
brand and model
so side
icl i havent connected the usb 3.0 cable to my mobo yet π
does it say anything?
Its just black
Honestly the cables you need to check are these:
PSU β> Motherboard
PSU β> GPU
PSU β> HDD
Motherboard β> CPU
Top 3 are in and i didnt touch the cpu so should be fine
that last cable doesnβt actually do anything afaict if you were right when checking the small pin connectors from earlier that went into the fan
Anything that doesnβt start after these can be fixed afterwards itβs just those main cables that are important
You may also want the front panel connector I guess since I doubt you want to start the pc without the button
So i turn it on now :Chamber_Fear:
Sooo top or bottom
Only if you are absolutely sure there is not left over moisture from the water
And that there is no clear water damage to any parts that you can see
yea no idea
arii you got this
But no way to know :frogsip:
Wait dont leave me its not on yet :pandasad:
You can feel if itβs condensed or if there are water stains
Would it be visible?
Yeah you can typically see the condensation or dried up liquid around the connector if you didnβt clean it properly
You can also feel it tho
Wheres the connector
Any port that you had the water spill near
I dont feel any wetness :frogsip: :happypanda:
And how long have you waited since the incident?
Water cane from the top
Can i put the ram in any of βem ? :frogsip:
As long as youβve made sure itβs dry, you didnβt answer how long ago it was
Gpu is little brown but its dusty rather than metal thatβs oxidised
Basically you want it to be fully dry and you want to be fully sure of this
It was about 30 hours a go
Maybe 40
I also had a fan on it for 6hours
I mean itβs up to you if you feel youβve made sure itβs fully dry then
I canβt feel the components for you sadly
Whenever youβre comfortable just reseat the ram and see if any component is not working correctly
But does ram go in grey or black slot
Technically it doesnβt matter so long as they are both seated in the same color
Like both in black or both in grey
Itβs so that you get dual channeling on your memory
So you would do 1 and 3 or 2 and 4
I only have one :please:
Then you can pick any one you like I guess
Theres no way i can put this upside down right
No, the ram comes with a notch that will only let you seat it in one way
Of course you could probably break it if you really tried to but itβs easy to tell if itβs the wrong way around
I tried multiple times both ways and only the bottom slips in
is taht ddr5?
or am i acoustic
Yeah
Is that bad
:pandawhy:
Did you open the switches on the top and bottom?
I cant get it in :why:
I flicked the thingy at the top
Then you should be able to seat it
Which side is the top tho
Did i bend it ? The gold lines arnt all equal length
no its good
That looks like the right way
You can tell by the part that doesnβt have the gold pins in the middle there
If you look at the slots there will be a part that is a bit different
That grey part would sit in there
So in the picture I sent you have it upside down for reference
Okay its in
Think i was just to scared to push harder
Haha, yeah that feeling happens every time you do something like this with ram, gpu anything
This is before
Before water
You said this so now i changed it to this
Think ill try putting it on
Maybe with a screen?
Yeah thatβs fine, if you look at the diagram on the left
The cables should be the same just in a different way of connecting them
And we donβt really know what that last cable does itβs up to you if you want to connect that one
Plugged it in just for in case
Yup should be fine if it was connected before all this
I donβt understand what its purpose is supposed to be but it doesnβt seem to be connected to anything bad
Tho i donno it it was in pci e or in paa
Pata
The PCIe ones are the red ones
Oh
Alrightttt
Here goes
No sparks so far :stressed:
Screen is black tho
did you plug it in?
Oh I plugged other into my motherboard whoops
:val_CatBigStare:
HOLY SHIT IT WORKS ngl it was soaked spilt about 1.5 L on it
YAYYYY
:PandaAmazing:
Thanks guys
W
now never put a drink near it again please
Lel
I do have another question tho
Why are some usb slots blue?
its color coding for the version of the USB port
I believe blue is for 3.0 ports
so those will give you the best connection assuming your device is also USB 3.0
One is even aquamarine / cyan
What would i mouse and keyboard be
And a high quality usb mic
I can't see the text above it
but I would assume it might be a 3.1 port
Text was SS
basically you want to plug any 3.0 compatible devices into the 3.0 ports since you will get a better connection
USB 2.0 devices can still be plugged into a 3.0 slot however it just won't benefit from it
so your mouse and keyboard will be the ones going into the 3.0 slots in this case for you
probably throw the mouse in the cyan one even
Thanks so much
Ive never disassembled or reassembled any wires or pcs
This was so stressful
np β€οΈ
it gets less stressful over time as you've done it a few times
Bought the motherboard and ram for my bday 2 weeks ago
Demn
And u had the nerves to put ur drink on top of the case
did someone else install those for you then?
The water was on my best table thingy
Pc shop where i bought it
ah
I took the pc with water to them but then they said technician is on holiday ill have to figure ot out on my own
π
Which server do you play :PepeBlanketCry:
:val_CatBigStare:
I can maybe get giftcard for vp
nah dw about it, I don't really need money
Can ask lyra if they want too
what ?
You can ask*
You know them no?
@lyra
Also i did all the screws and theres one left
WTF :pandawhy:
check on floor
probably missed one of the side panel ones?
wha--
Can screws duplicate when you put em back
Side panels only had 4
And one for gpu
idk about that duplication glitch lol
And now one extra
yes its a well known phenomena
You want vp to say thanks?
the screw could also be for fastening the PSU, or maybe the GPU?
download this and stress test it btw
https://geeks3d.com/furmark/
FurMark Homepage
FurMark - GPU stress test and graphics card benchmark
just incase
if you accidentally unscrewed one of those
Its nothing at the back
Has to be inside
My gpu is really old
It wont kill it right :SadBee:
Also @lyra
no probably
heh, furmark has killed a few before
:stressed:
dont
thank you however i cannot accpet per i didnt do anything really then show you pics of front panel wires.
plus I dont accept payment in general
lol
thank you again tho for the offer
thats what we want to findout
no Bro I don't need money we help for free and learn from it :Brim_SeemsGood:
id also recommend to run a cpu stress test
Was gonna pay more to the pc guys to do less wouldnt mind
But appreciate everyone :PepeBlanketCry:
maxon . net/en/cinebench
also run that program
its always a good idea to stress test everything
Would that be like on the gpu ?
it would be outside the case
its a screw to fasten the gpu to the case from the outside
Oh yeha no i have no open spots outside atvall
I mean just keep it and maybe you'll notice it later
Oh welp
Plugged everything back in
actually ?
the ZIP or SETUP
and how do i know which bit i am
so i should rather not? i ahve like a gtx 960 or 970
older GPUs yes
its normally perfectly fine but it has happened before
mine is old tho :SadBee:
I mean you don't HAVE to benchmark
is there a safe one
if you aren't planning on running a game that will max out your components it won't really tell you anything anyways
they are all typically safe, cinebench, furmark, AIDA64
any game maxes out my gpu
shhhhhhhhh
its below most games requirements atm
:shy:
discord and the anti malware i delted thats still there already takes 40-50% memory
I mean you honestly don't need to run the benchmarks, but if you noticed problems it might be a good diagnostic tool:BearHeart:
try to turn of hardware acceleration on discord
thanks :3653_Surprised_pikachu:
is the memory being taken by actual applications?
what cmd for ss ?
winkey + shift + s
or printscreen key if you prefer that method
i took a phone for now but thanks
the antimalware is normal
but is 40% memory normal im not running anytihng
ig its onyl 16gb
Do u have steam set to automatic on startup?
go here
and turn of this
all ym start ups are off uts still there somehow
found it thanks
can you go to the performance tab in task manager and show me?
under 'memory'
I just don't really believe you are using 40% memory if its 16gb with only those applications running
sounds like you are being scammed by windows
sorry had a phone call
like this?
ejyopdtrjy
my gpu is 40*C
is this okay or is it busy dying :pandawhy:
40C is perfectly fine, that just depends on the fan speed you have set
for example some gpu fans don't even start spinning until the gpu hits at least 50C
Is 8 gigs of cached ram normal tho :val_CatBigStare: :val_CatBigStare:
normal? no
safe? probably
someone told me i need fake ram or liek download ram once
can i make it stronger ?
Yeah download free ram :val_CatBigStare: :val_CatBigStare:
(Don't actually)
how can i download a piece of plastic
i thought they were all just stupid
also why does my mousepad need 200MBram just for lighting a little rgb around the thing
Damn
Even bros mousepad uses vram
i didnt get vram T-T
can i reduce cached ?
I'm not sure what ram you currently have so I don't know if that speed is what the best clock for your ram is but you can fix the cache
DDR5 Vengance 16GB
model?
Also why did u buy 1 stick of 16 instead of 2 8 gigs
oh no i dont wnat to clock or that stuff
not talking about overclocking, just setting it to the speed listed on the ram
up to you if you don't want to though
for the cache we can try using ISLC to clear the standbylist
donno if this helps
you are losing about 14% of your ram's speed
Hm
https://www.wagnardsoft.com/ISLC/ISLC%20v1.0.3.2.exe
get ISLC though
I say fix the cache first
:val_CatBigStare:
same thing
just depends what cache is actually the one taking up that memory
it could be the standbylist, vram anything
i dont have vram tho ?
just the one i put in now
everyone does unless you manually went and disabled it
U have a graphics card
I didn't even know that u can disable it
not the gpu ram :val_CatBigStare:
the virtual ram on windows
Nvm
Isnt ram motherboard ram
>.<
its the physical ram yes
but there is also virtual ram which is when windows uses the storage on your system as temporary ram
this is of course a lot slower and worse
I clicked a lot of things
on what?
i got to this after a while
yup, perfect
wsa this the tinhf
you notice how the Standby list is 6938 MB?
so from fixing computer to optimizing it
to many words
we don't want that
shiiii
copy these settings
am learning too :']
but change the 16330 MB to 16193 MB
this will make it so the standbylist never takes more than 1GB
also make sure its always running when the pc starts, the buttons in the bottom left should do it for you but it needs to be running to clear this stuff
after you have clicked start then send a screenshot of this left side here:
this isnt changeable
we need to make sure your timer resolution doesn't get messed up and you get input delay for no reason
the "free memory is lower than:" tab?
this part
oh
the bottom one should be 16193
ah
got it
alright click start and send a screenshot of it
okay so your timer resolution is mismatched so we need to fix that so you don't get input delay
memory is sitll 40% tho
this doesn't effect visible memory only the cached ones
okay
so i make wnated timer 1 ?
nope, you're gonna run some CMD commands to fix your timer resolution, you want 0.5
gimme a second to find them, haven't set this in a while
cashed is going up again was at 300mb now its on 600
now at 700 D:
of course, windows is going to keep reopening stuff since they think they are so important
but as soon as it hits 1024 its gonna clear it back down to 0
oh cool
open CMD as admin and then enter these in order
you can also use
bcdedit /set useplatformclock no
as the last command
if you don't want to delete it
some people don't like removing random stuffi dont know what this means :'[
search for CMD in windows then click run as administrator on the right
or right click then >> run as administrator, both work
got a black box
copy and paste?
whats that bruj
yup this is the terminal, make sure it says : C:\WINDOWS\system32>
so you're in admin
it does
Msg no 444
it gets rid of the bad platform clocks that windows uses and instead uses the hardware based one
you need it to get a 0.5 timer resolution in most cases
what if i run it
that's fine, if it doesn't exist its okay
nothing bad will happen you can just use the other command I gave to not delete the last one and re-enable it if you don't like it
its just to optimize delays in the system
restart the pc and check timer resolution
:yessir_10:
:kekwsalute:
yeah, check your task tray in the bottom right
the arrow
it should launch in there by default since it was checked
worked ? i think :Sussy:
yup, perfect
:happypanda:
you just saved half a millisecond of input delay on every frame yay
:PandaAmazing:
:please: thank youuu
np, was the cache in task manager better after this?
or is it still taking a bunch of GB?
im not sure
perfect its below 1gb instead of 8gb now
i also stopped my mousepad so now its 30% ram :)
the other memory that is being taken up is most likely due to the operating system and your startup software, so you can tinker around with that a bit yourself
but it looks a lot better now at least
:blobparty:
thank you so much
I'm a bit frightened by the 0.98 Ghz processor speeds
but you may just have some power saving features on I'm assuming
dont think so no
can you click on the CPU tab and send a screenshot?
huh isnt it 4800Mhz?
that's your RAM
ah, yeah you don't have turbo on and you are using power saving
π
turbo what now :please:
its a CPU option that lets your processor go to its intended boost speeds
:val_CatBigStare: does this really work i use wise optimizer
I'm assuming that even if you start like valorant that speed will probably stay at a lower value like that but you can try it and test
I wouldn't ever touch a software like this in a thousand years
its just ISLC with added bloatware
where do yall learn stuff like this :please:
lol didnt knew this software i used to use it back a year so i am using it only
random stuff need to learn for others
I used to care a lot about optimizing my PC so I have spent countless hours learning this stuff
why is steam there after i closed the program o-o
as I grew older I stopped caring about most of it but I still remember and do some of the simple stuff like this
simple stuff π ah yes totally :Sussy: i too pocess this basic knowledge you speak off
well now that you've done it once you will most likely remember the basic parts of ISLC
so that in the future you can google it and see 'ah yeah I remember this'
copy and paste the photos you sent :>
:PikaPat:
speaking of optimization what gpu should i get so my games run better and les laggy?
i have i5 intel
but im assuming i need more ram too ?
i just end task
windows explorer
thought it meant folder
everytinhg black π
what now
well for GPU you are better off asking someone more kept up with recent builds, but you could probably get any mid-high end GPU and do well like a 6800xt, 3060, 3070 etc
for RAM you're gonna have to look at what your motherboard supports, you are going to want at least 1 more ram stick for dual channeling since the benefits are huge
sadly ram has to be identical when used together
so you're going to have to buy another of the exact same ram with same size and speeds
also, this isn't something you can close, notice how it says restart in the bottom and not End task?
its not dangerous to do though and is pretty useful if the file explorer does freeze or glitch out
Okay restarted its fixed
Scary tho :blobsweat:
i have to go pick up a friend from the aiport thanks everyone for all the help
:heartbun:
