Legion go system power profiles
Using the L button + Y changes the LED to the power mode of the legion go, for some reason it keeps changing itself back to purple which makes the fans go into a full speed and makes it super noisy, is there anyway to make it stop doing that and make it just automatically adjust the fans for the games needs?

I doubt this is a "feature" and its quite annoying especially when trying to play something that requires little to no power and is quite quiet, but is blasting my fans and draining more power than it should be
Simple decky tdp pins your tdp to what you set in ut
Just disable if you want to use the built in profikes
so uninstall simpledeckytdp and just use the steam quick menu tdp profiles, right?
how do i uninstall it as the uninstall button does not work
no
that would limit you to 15W
You want to use SimpleDeckyTDP to control your TDP
so use simple decky tdp and not the steam quick menu
right?
yes
and that will solve the led profile issue?
You can turn it off
And use it when you want custom tdp
out of curiosity
why do i need to use the simpledeckytdp and not quick menu
as quick menu has been working fine
if you uninstall SimpleDeckyTDP
the quick menu will be limited to 15W
Steam Game mode is designed for the Valve steam deck first and foremost
really?
it was working fine for me
yes, really
i changed my tdp using steam menu and the performance improved
so simpleDeckyTDP patches the steam TDP slider for to work
im just using the simpledeckytdp and its still affecting the led
if you remove SimpleDeckyTDP, the steam TDP slider will no longer work
if you want to use the Legion + Y combo, disable the
Lenovo Custom TDP
toggle in SimpleDeckyTDPno i dont want to use it
also disable custom fan curves in LegionGoRemapper
i want it to stop defaulting to purple
because the fans go to max speeds and its annoying when they dont need to be max speed
custom fan curves requires purple LED
i dont want custom fan curves
thats what i said
then uninstall LegionGoRemapper
i want it to automatically adjust itself
i dont have it installed
then disable the Lenovo custom TDP toggle in SimpleDeckyTDP
then at that point, if it's still changing to purple
it's something else changing it
i dont even know what legion go remapper is lmao
it's a different Decky Plugin
if you don't see it in your decky plugins, it's not installed
yeah i never installed it
then just disable the custom TDP toggle in SimpleDeckyTDP
and if it's still changing to purple, something else is changing the LED light
my default is 15W
min - 5
max - 30
fix steam hardware on
power controls on
background polling on
custom tdp off
thats my current simpledecky
ok, that's fine. so if it's still changing to the purple LED, something else is doing it
SimpleDeckyTDP only turns on the purple LED if you have custom TDP on
ill try figure it out then i guess
and so as the hopefully final stupid question
with simpledeckytdp on
do i use the steam quick menu slider now
or do i use the simple decky tdp slider
from the plugins menu
if you have the experimental "fix steam hardware controls" toggle enabled, then use the steam TDP slider
gotcha
do i disable custom profiles in the plugin
or leave them enabled
if you enable custom profiles in the plugin, it'll only apply for the power governor controls
thats fine
wicked
the TDP and GPU profiles are managed via steam
assuming you have that toggle on
i believe so
do i just keep the polling rate to 10?
with the experimental toggle on, SimpleDeckyTDP fixes the steam TDP and GPU sliders
you can technically turn polling off, it's only necessary if you notice something is changing TDP in the background
the polling is meant as a workaround for when something else is messing with TDP
the plugin can't actively monitor the TDP values
right noted
is there anyway to make a game automatically use as much tdp as it needs
or is it just going to balance off the default at all times
unfortunately no, if you don't like the default for a game, you'll need to enable a per-game profile and change it
thought so
thanks again
but once you set the per-game profile, it'll remember it for that game
thought so
just like my deck
ah yep pretty much
back at this again
I have my legion go set to use 5 tdp
yet battery is saying 25W on the stats indicator
I'm assuming tdp setting isn't working
š¤ did you change the TDP via the Legion L + Y combo?
if you change it via the legion combo, steam won't automatically change it back
Steam only changes TDP when you start/close a game
it could also be that you might not have STAMP enabled in the bios
STAMP is necessary for custom TDP control, since you're not using the Lenovo Custom TDP toggle
nope it has been kept with on white
should I double check this one?
STT was enabled instead of STAMP
even with that changed it's not working
I think I'll have to go back to windows as this was my main reason of switching so that I could prolong battery but so far it's been worse
should be purple if its actually 5w
you playin?
it's not changing to purple at all lmao
yes you overheated
it will turn off soon
it was yesterday but then it stopped because the fans were going at max speeds for a low usage game
what?
when it stays white it is in overheat protection mode
no?
I set it to white before restarting my device
because I wanted it in balance
I've now changed it to purple in my bios and I'll see if it works or not
nope still not adjusting the tdp
manual GPU clock is working fine
and now the tdp slider is just moving itself back to 25
Both legiongoremapper and TDP setting do not work
@Crankers hrm, it could be that steam updated and now the TDP slider behaves differently. try disabling the steam hardware controls fix in SimpleDeckyTDP, and use the TDP sliders directly in the plugin instead.
but anyways, if Windows works better for you, do what works best for ya š
I'm installing windows to reset the bios and then try again
if that doesn't work it'll be windows permanently again
@Aru sorry for pinging
im doing what i believe may be your guide on the windows dual boot
but the get simple decky command does not work
do i use the one on the bazzite alternative handhelds page?
try typing in
ujust
by itself in terminal, it'll list the commands
i think the command might've been changed recentlyi did the version from the alternative handhelds guide
yeah it did
yeah, huge ujust cleanup to make it friendlier
its now
ujust setup-decky simpledeckytdp
some things got renamed for consistency
others got combined with fancy pickers
ive done a fresh winstall and bazzite install and now dual booted both
hopefully this has fixed it
as well as resetting my bios entirely
ok, i'll have to update the guide a bit then for the new ujust. thanks for the heads up š
could just make a pinned comment for it on the current video
i can just update the readme on SimpleDeckyTDP
that too
are you on the latest bazzite? or rolled back for to fix the suspend issue?
the ujust will be slightly different depending on which, hrm. guesss i'll update the readme with both for now
latest
though i will add the update command you said to use just froze my terminal for 30 mins
but i think thats a bazzite issue not a your command issue
do you mean for rollback? bazzite does have very slow OS updates/rollbacks
yeah, nothing is frozen
it's just doing what it needs to do to downgrade your image
rpm-ostree offers no progress bar for that task
the
just update
commandfroze? like not responding or does it stay stuck at a certain thing
rpm-ostree
is slow
and there's no indicatorfrozen as in no input at all works on the terminal
can you screenshot it?
it most likely is rpm-ostree doing its thing
every update downloads ~2.5GB
I already cancelled it a while ago and my legion is no longer on
so depending on your download speed it could take a while
if I try it again in the morning I'll send a screenshot
okay thanks
1k down so shouldn't take 30 minutes lmao
considering rdr2 downloads in roughly that time
and that's 100+GB
20 minutes is the expected time for a full rebase
on a cable connection
as I said, almost certainly not "locked up"
rpm-ostree has no progress bar
yeah if you see this:
everything is working properly
yep everything is reset to how it should be and setup again and it still refuses to use the tdp control
not even the plugins default tdp control is working
@Crankers and secure boot disabled?
yup
been disabled since I bought it lmao
š¤ is your ryzenadj not working or something
sudo ryzenadj -i
honestly not a clue
I spent most the day trying to debug it and figure out why it wasn't working but I just kept coming to dead ends and loops
so I've done the unfortunate scummy solution
so i can't replicate on my LGO, tdp control is still working fine
but if you can't get it working, clearly something is up
sadly I went back to windows
fair enough, do what works best for ya š
now I'm tempted to re install bazzite again and try the command you mentioned
š
tbh if windows works fine for you, there's no need to install bazzite.
I would prefer tdp control and being able to save some battery if I'm honest
i personally fully uninstalled windows on my device because i like the quality of life features on linux
though I'm currently mostly using my legion go plugged in so idk if it would benefit me much
you can use handheld companion or uxtu for TDP control on windows
if tdp control was the only thing you wanted from bazzite, then windows works fine
I strongly detest handheld companion, last I used it, it was horribly buggy
I'm not very experienced in uxtu but if it can deliver what I'm looking for then it might be worth taking a look into
out of curiosity, why didn't you keep windows on a small partition for the things only windows can do?
because i haven't needed to boot up windows for anything other than bios and firmware updates, and for that i now just use an external ssd
but I also am lucky that all the games i play work on linux
would you suggest using uxtu handheld or handheld companion?
i don't know, i haven't used them personally
but either should be fine
I think I'll give uxtu a run
i do, aru has multiple ssds and a custom backplate
but using both is perfectly fine
i previously had windows dual-booted on my main drive, but ended up fully removing it a few weeks ago.
but yeah, i also can easily swap out SSDs, so my take might not apply to most people
