My riot vanguard isn't getting installed for no reason
I keep clicking update yet it goes into updating for a split second and then the update option comes again, I asked this issue to be solved earlier as well but then someone just shared a video and didnt do anything even though the video didnt help at all

Is vanguard running in the system tray?
I searched on yt for a solution
It said to reinstall vanguard
I unistalled it
That is true but unnecessary sometimes, which is why I asked if it was running in system tray first
But the problem is
I cant reinstall it
You have to uninstall vanguard in a goofy way

Vanguard should automatically be reinstalled once you start the download again

Okay then you didn’t uninstall it correctly if you used this
Since it’s closed from system tray already, open up cmd as admin
Then enter these two commands:
sc delete vgc
sc delete vgk

Then you never reached the point where vanguard got installed
Perhaps you have an antivirus running that is blocking the installation?
malware bytes but I turned it off and it still wont install
Hmm, try running riot client as an administrator when you start it then
If it’s not a lack of privileges it may be time to try a clean boot and if that doesn’t work then maybe the dependency is a redistributable and not vanguard

Clean booting is completely safe as long as you make sure hide all Microsoft services is checked

How about this then, you make a restore point so that if you do somehow mess it up we can reset it back using safe mode?
Would you be comfortable with that?
Another thing you should probably know is that many of my other games too stopped working, Like Resident Evil 4: REMAKE, Fortnite and Overwatch and all of these include anti cheat software

Odd, that definitely sounds like you have installed some 3rd party software which is interfering
Resident evil 4 shouldn’t be stopped though unless you are using like the empress version and you had an antivirus going
Idk if its safe to say this but I did crack some of the games like the Original RE4, Pokemon BDSP and stuff
The only games working rn are cracked games, Phasmophobia and Palworld
Only some cracked games stop working when using antiviruses
It’s definitely worth it to try and clean boot though to see if that fixes the issue
If it does it’ll make it a lot easier to find out what is causing all those games to malfunction
Im ready for a clean boot but could I take some time to review the footage I have saved in my captures
Cuz theres no point in saving those if they are just random clips
I mean you can take all the time you want, it’s not like you’re on a clock

Alright, just follow these steps in order if you’ve made a restore point:
- Press Windows + R on your keyboard and enter in “msconfig” without the quotations.
- Go to the services tab, check “Hide all Microsoft services, then click Disable all and Apply.
- Go to the startup tab and click “Open Task Manager”, in the startup tab click and disable any 3rd party software you have installed
lmk if you need help making a restore point first if you want one and don’t know how
after performing the steps you can simply restart the computer and see if lets you install the dependency

Alright, do the following:
- Search for “Create a restore point” without quotations in windows and it should take you to the system properties under the tab “System Protection”.
- In here click once on your windows drive and then configure.
- Check the box for “Turn on system protection” and set the slider for “Disk Space Usage” to something that makes sense for your drive size, around 3-5gb is typically enough and then click Apply and OK.
- You should be back at the System Properties page now but if you aren’t then follow the first steps again to get back.
- Click your windows drive once again and then click “Create”.
- Make the description whatever you want it to be and then click create and close.
That’s it for creating a restore point.

Idk if this is related but, I couldnt install the update just fine but then I couldnt install vanguard
I thought vanguard would be downloaded with the update
Vanguard gets downloaded as the last thing when you install valorant
But you don’t have vanguard anymore right? Since it didn’t exist in cmd and isn’t running at all
I just saw a bunch of videos on yt on how to do it, and they are saying to delete vanguard from control panel and then reinstall it

So it’s creating the vanguard folder but not the services for the actual anticheat

Your vanguard folder might be corrupted for some reason
Its already uninstalled and I cant install it again

So it’s a really bad way of removing it

I told him how to do that but they don’t exist
Which is why I had him clean boot to see if it’s 3rd party interference but it’s not that either

In December, My sibling borrowed my laptop for an exam since it could not be conducted on her laptop, The exam was 6 hours and then when I went to collect my laptop
Idk why my rainmeter was gone, My wallpaper was changed and the worst part is that the screen resolution was like 1640 x 924

They might’ve used some OS lockdown program for the exam
Some schools use them to prevent cheating
I asked her about this and she said that the invigilator who she was in a call with used AnyDesk to tinker with system
The exam was conducted from our house and the invigilator was just in a call with her

And then I slowly realized that from that day onwards my laptop just started working slow

And when I would open task manager and few other stuff, It would give me a Access Denied error first and would load in the second time
Well there is no real way to find out what they changed unless you have a restore point from back then
Right, I just told this story because I thought it might be some permission issues due to the fact it literally said Access denied to the owner of the laptop
Well you shouldn’t be getting access denied ever unless the user is non admin
But if you weren’t admin then you wouldn’t be able to run cmd as admin so
It could maybe be they tinkered with the group policy or registry then?

You can test everything I’ve said from the start of the thread
Most of the time this issue occurs it’s due to those factors
when i try uninstalling vanguard it just doesnt work
You should make your own ticket for the issue, but most likely the problem is that you haven’t closed out of it from the task tray
Now run sfc /scannow again

The two methods were clean booting and firewall issues so try it out for yourself and it may work for you

Every file and drivers go boom
And then it was running smoothly after reinstalling and vanguard was the first thing it installed as wel
