dyeing pants
I got these cords second hand and let out the hem to find they have these fade lines along the crease. Gave em wash to see if the fabric would settle but no luck, and they’re unfortunately very obvious. Would it be best to strip the dye before attempting to re-dye since it’s so inconsistent? And is RIT ok for this or would y’all suggest something else?

Stripping and re-dyeing or just trying to re-dye the same color might get you some pretty ugly results. If you want to salvage them by dyeing, I’d recommend trying to dye them to a darker color all around.
You could try a fabric marker on the lines. I one bought a vintage sweatshirt that had some bleach spots on them and the fabric marker is nearly invisible. Unlikely folks will notice that corrective measure at the hem!
Hmm yeah I can see that. They’re on the darker side of mid blue, so I’m thinking I could strip and then do a navy dye which should be a bit darker.
Is there a specific brand or type for touch ups like this? Or just the ones sold at craft stores for writing on fabric? Since the areas wrap around each leg I it might be more apparent than just a single blotch unless I can get a great color match.
I think I got mine from Jo Ann Fabrics or something. This is a little bit of a stretch but you could bring the pants and dab them with the marker to test before you buy?
