Ubisoft Games All Failing to Launch
Ubisoft titles have been problematic for a long time, but the wife wants to play Raymond Legends.... I also tried running Assassins Creed Valhalla and it also failed to launch.
So, attempted to start the game both with Proton-8.0-5 and GE-Proton-32. In both cases the game immediately crashes.
Are there any workarounds to get Ubisoft titles working?

Im certain its related to Ubisoft Connect, but the launch process never gets far enough to even start installing it ....
Are these titles you own on steam, or are you installing them some other way?
Own and run from steam
Not non-steam games or through Lutris
Interesting, let me do some research I'll get back to you. I have a bunch of them and they work fine
Appreciate it
One thing you can do
PROTON_LOG=1 %command%
As a launch option
That'll spit a log into your home dirThats really good to know; I may be able to find the cause
Well.... thats beyond me...
Hmm, can you post the full log?
Wine is famously noisy
Yup; one moment
Need to scp it off the bazzite box
That was run with GE-31, but seeing the same failure with standard proton 8.0-5
nds.exe: /usr/include/vkroots.h:13981: void vkroots::tables::CreateDispatchTable(PFN_vkGetInstanceProcAddr, PFN_GetPhysicalDeviceProcAddr, VkInstance): Assertion `res == VK_SUCCESS' failed.
This appears to be the crash to me
Failure when setting up the vulkan renderer
Rest after looks like noise while it all comes down
That's really weird. Able to run basically any other title out there... except these 2 ubisoft games. Checked EA, Indies and Activision without any problems
is this on the desktop or in game mode?
They are the only Ubisoft games I have installed.
Gamescope
try uhh
I can try in desktop, but will need to hook up a keybaord mouse
Solution
ENABLE_GAMESCOPE_WSI=0 %command%
Ah, the RPCS3 fix
Let me try that
gamescope is getting a great big refactor atm
so with any luck little things like this go away here soon

Ok, game is launching
Launched. No gamepad buttons working. Relaunching after enabling steam input for the game and setting the profile to 'Gamepad'
Well; π The game runs. Gamepad not responsive in either native or steam input
I think Im actually just going to use the Switch version and emulate it. Im basically done with Ubisoft at this point.
Thank you so much for the help!
np!
controls should work in that game, that's rather odd
one sec
Ive had this problem in gamescope on Arch systems as well for ALL ubisoft games for probably the last 6 months :/
Seeing it on this new bazzite box as well
Such a shame what happened to Ubisoft
used to be some of the best games out of that studio

me when it comes to all ubisoft titles at this point except assassins screed (which i run on my gamestream server VM which runs windows) π
rather emulate them than deal with ubisoft connect breaking in proton
The switch version simply works under emulation and at least I dont have to worry about it randonmly failing in the future. I can live without AC series at this point
