Cant boot normaly [LenovoLegionGo]
Hi everyone š
I have a Problem with my lenovo legion Go:
Every time Bazzite boots after the loading circle animation, I have to manually enter the following command in the terminal using the keyboard: "steamos-session-select plasma" to get the normal interface. If I don't do that, the device stays on a black screen and doesn't proceed further. Is there a possible fix for this issue?

hrm, so i think you aren't the first to report this problem. is this a new installation of bazzite?
Hi š
Yes it is a first installation.
I can boot after i type that in pretty normaly and play games launch the game Mode via Desktop everything works
so for some reason, sometimes new bazzite installs boot to a black screen.
but once it boots normally, it never happens again. I've never actually figured out why this bug happens
and never been able to reproduce it personally, i've installed bazzite multiple times and it never happens to me
š¤ i wonder if a clean reinstall would fix it, have you tried that already?
I wiped the drive and installed it again, it happened again š
i also tryed it to installation it on my Desktop PC and that happened again
Is there and way to force it to launch it via the plasma Desktop or create a Script for booting ?
damn ok, so reinstall does nothing
@Kyle Gospo is there some way to default to booting to desktop first?
I could wipe the whole nvme install first Windows again and then redo the bazzit setup š
as a temp workaround for this issue
i mean, if you already tried a reinstall once and saw this issue again
i doubt doing it again would solve it
i'm still baffled by why only a few users ever see this bug
and others have no problems at all
Beides that it works perfect
glad to hear it's mostly working well for ya š
now if only we could figure out this dumb blank boot issue that occasionally pops up
Yeah that would be awesome šš
Maybe there is someone who could create an script or something else to skip that screen.
What I should also mention is that I am setting up the entire thing on an external NVMe hard drive. From what I've read, this is supposed to cause issues. My NVMe 2280 adapter is arriving from China in the next few days, and then I'll try the entire setup again.
oh yes, please keep us updated on that. the LGO does have some weird hardware issues with booting off external media
I'm going to do that. I've noticed that sometimes it doesn't recognize the external drive, and I need to reboot the whole system. After that, it does recognize it.ššš
Thx anyways š
How did you set up your user?
I created a root account, activated it, and then also created a normal user account. After that, I installed it.
I did it with this tutorial from youtube at 09:50 Minute you can See how He creates the User and root Account

try to not create a root account, leave it disabled as you can gain root with
sudo
using your user account which you have set as a privileged accountIs that the error ? For not booting directly in to the os ?
Don't know the internals well enough yet, just know we strongly don't recommend setting a password on the root account and keep it disabled.
It is in the installer sadly as we do not control those options in the current installer. But that might change soon
I can remove and try the Installation again maybe it could fix it
should be fixable when we launch the new ISO
yeah but it is not right now
and the way i see it:
upstream issue
anaconda installer in its current state has issues has issues with OCI images and that's just how it be. eventually it will be fixed
one way or another
So would a new fresh Installation from bazzite without an root Account help me to fix this Problem?
if that's the source of the issue, I have only myself to blame ā°ļø
@Aru
So, it's working perfectly with the NVMe 2280 adapter. I just plugged it in internally, and the same installation from last time booted straight into gaming mode like a Steam Deck would. However, I do have one issue ā I'm unsure how to access Windows during the boot process. š
Thx for your Videoguide on Youtube i didnt knew that it was you ššššš
Hold volume up during boot, select boot options, tap windows
...I think it's called boot options
Let me check
So there is no bootloader where i can select bazzite or windows. Somethinkg like clover š
Oh if you want something like that

Yes thank you @Aru šš
Btw do you still have the boot issue?
Nope mate its totally gone.
After i installed the nvme adapter it booted straight from the drive and in to the Gamescope Mode
It had nothing to doo with root
Access
Its like u said. The LeGo cant handle external drives good. Sometimes it wont find it while it boots
So perhaps the issue was related to external disk
It definitly had something to Do with it.
Aight, thanks for the info š
Np. And thanks for your awesome tutorial and help here in discord. šš
