I've new to linux but I am considering changing from another OS to Bazzite but is there a way to use xbox360 controller configuration instead of the playstation default one? Since I am using a rog ally and it confuses me. I am also trying to use it to navigate the desktop mode so I don't have to keep using my keyboard via a dongle. Any help would be highly appreciated because I am not very linux savy I'm coming from windows.

change the controler that is being emulated in hhd, however you will lose extended functionality like gyro and extra buttons (paddles/backbuttons) because the xbox controller does not support that
okay that's fine with me but question how would I go about changing it there is there a command I need to use?
i do not own any of the devices that use hhd so i do not know but i am 100000% sure it is mentioned in the hhd documentation which is linked to in the "alternative handhelds" section on the bazzite github
most likely you can change it through the decky plugin or through https://hhd.dev/

tbh i prefer xbox glyphs on pc even when using non xbox controllers.
there is nothing i hate more than go from an xbox controller to a switch controller when playing yakuza/like a dragon and fail spectacularly on karaoke 😂

My aim is terrible with it lol I aim better without it
it has a learning curve (and to be fair quite a few games requires some fine adjusting for it)
it wasnt before using gyro in the deck that i got really used to it
before that i used it with the steam controller to varying success
now i cant play without it in a lot of games (well i can, but not well)

we do not recommend going from 1 DE to another DE
it tend to break things in a way its better to make a new user on the device

That's why I just went with the default for Ally because I'm familiar with the steam OS and it looks just like it on desktop.
theres a gnome image for the ally
if you installed a kde based image (default for bazzite), you can swap to any other kde based image no issues

It looks kinda neat I'm just worried it will be harder to navigate with my rogs button's is that possible for searching the desktop mode.
And can I still use desktop images to load or does it have to be done via commands to upload things?
stick with kde then if thats what you are comfortable with.
if you have a pc you can always try out the bazzite-gnome image on a virtual machine
however we do not recommend switching from kde to gnome or gnome to kde as it will cause odd issues with different things. my recommendation is if you are switching DE make a new user (on desktop images) to login as on the new DE or reinstall (handheld images) to avoid incompatibilities and weird issues
in a VM you use desktop images

yeah you can. we recommend keeping bazzite and windows on separate drives anyway. just keep in mind that manual partitioning is not supported on fedora atomic desktops, which bazzite is based on

wifi works as long as the iso has the driver for the wifi card (in which case you can connect to wifi)

if it is not there, you will not have the option in the network portion of the installer to connect to wifi

you can add it to game mode... if this is for the ROG Ally then i guess i should recommend the Fantastic Decky plugin

yeah use a decky plugin for game mode on the ally for fan control and LACT on your desktop
just be careful with this stuff

don't damge the hardware and what not. LACT also allows you to overclock the GPU

Can I lower the clock on it with LACT? Because it keeps ramping itself to max and I don't need it that stinking high.
Like when I open after burner on PC it's way too high I have to clock it all the way back down and save it because it's way too high and it will overheat my gpu.

Its download but when I put in the command I had to do in order to reboot its not working at all I feel like I missed something

a recent audio update on the deck images added a filter channel which messes up the defaults

for desktop image, the ujust command works fine
if you plan to use it on the ally you will need a slightly modified one

the deck image recently had an update that is deck image specific in regards to audio and added these 2 outputs
and it made the defaults for the audio channels config go wonky on the deck image 🤣
so yeah, does not affect the desktop image at all

i would recommend you to get pulseaudio volume control from the software center though
makes it easy to quickly make games and programs play audio on the right channel
for most applications once you have set the output in pulseaudio volume control, it will remember it the next time
so you dont have to set it up constantly

meaning you have to change it each time
so for game output would it say just game I select or will it have other options?
ideally set the audio output/speaker to "game" inside the game
if not set it to pulseaudio in the game
if the game does not support changing the audio output, use pulseaudio volume control

Is there a way I can use a virtual machine to setup windows 11 just so I can use my photoshop because I don't know how to get it to work on linux.
I have no idea how to even install rpm files.
On the obs portable version I was given I can't seem to find the settings I am suppose to enable in order for my game capture to work I am pretty sure I am missing something but I am not sure what. I cannot change my encoder settings from x264 because its not finding anywhere else to pull from.
dont think it has ffmpeg vaapi available, but that one tend to be a bit unstable
currently virtualization is only available on the desktop image

virt-manager is probably overkill for you but keep in mind that you will not have proper hardware acceleration in windows

I am using the portable obs but I can't get it to use certain encoder settings because it's not picking it up and I am not sure what I am doing wrong so it won't let me capture my game in desktop mode.

dont think the obs-studio-portable has access to ffmpeg-vaapi
the gamecapture function uses an environment variable as a launch option for games if that is the game capture you are talking about
add this to the games launch options (in steam)
OBS_VKCAPTURE=1 %command%
for other launchers (like heroic and lutris) do what would be the equivalent to adding an environment variable and just supply OBS_VKCAPTURE=1okay I will give it a try I feel so dumb asking for so much help I try and google but not sure what to put where half the time lol

window capture should still work as usual if you dont want to think about the variable, but you will get a prompt asking for access to record windows/screen each time you start obs instead (if you are on wayland)

keep in mind it does not work on all games, they have to use vulkan or dxvk to work with this, and some games dont like you recording them using this (anticheat)
