Where to find shorts like these

I have a pair of denim shorts that I absolutely loved, but tragically, I ripped the bottom and can no longer wear it. I went shopping both online and in person, but was never able to find shorts like this, with a similar style, size, and (very importantly) nice cuffs on the legs. Any idea where to look? I'm not willing to spend more than $50, especially since I got this back at Burlington Coat Factory for cheap

I live in a house that was built before the concept of selfies, so I can't really take a good pic of myself wearing them because I lack a tall mirror. Best I have is this old skydiving photo where I was wearing it 🤷‍♂️

Have you considered making your own

Interesting idea, but not something I'd like to do if I can avoid it

All my favorite denim shorts have just been jeans I cut down, it’s super easy. But I get it if it’s not your thing

Now that I think about it, it does sound fairly easy. I'll keep this as a backup plan if retail doesn't work out

when you say 'similar style' does that mean having the fading of the jeans already there? (budget would also be helpful)

$50 is about the maximum, unless there's a very compelling reason to go over I guess I just want it to look about the same. Same length, dark color, fading would be nice but not needed, cuffed

If you still have them, why not repair them or have them repaired? Would keep you under budget.

Is repairing feasible? It's less of a tear, and more that I've literally worn away most of the fabric down there, so it's thin

Without seeing them, it depends on the amount of wear & the amount you're willing to spend on fixing a blowout on $50 shorts tbh. It's worth it to take them to an alterations shop to get a quote tho if you're really set on the style. Otherwise, id go for the DIY jorts like art suggested.

most shorts off the rack are going to have no fades and come in longer than what those shorts appear to be

yeah tbh I would try to find some black levis 501s or whatever straight cut is avaialable at your local thrift store, cut them down and cuff them, and then take some sandpaper to the thighs to get the fades

We've been doing our thing since 1873, so we know a thing or two about making jeans in all their forms—including the first-ever jeans shorts (a.K.A. These). These 50...

Yeah, every pair I found was compromising on something. Too long, or no cuffs, stiff and uncomfortable, etc

if you're willing to buy secondhand there's a bunch of choices on ebay or poshmark, most of which will be faded already. usually they'll have raw hems but you can fold in a cuff or have it sewn in

These don't match the vibe I'm looking for. Not sure how to put into words why these feel unsuitable, besides the length. Too much cotton, maybe?

If you found some that are good but too long and just didn’t have cuffs, you can just get those and cuff them

Just checked the tag on my shorts, and they're 65% cotton, 30% polyester

You can even sew in the cuffs if you really want

Ah wait, I think I know what is missing from these and some other shorts I've seen. They hang open at the bottom of the pant legs instead of hugging the thighs Would slim jeans be suitable for making shorts that hug the legs?

yeah probably I used to make jorts out of my busted 511s and they were pretty tight

if you don't like the raw edges fold and iron down the hems

yeah I just took a pair of 510s, flipped them inside out and put them on, marked about two inches past where I wanted them to end bc I was gonna cuff them, and then just cut the legs off with scisssors

Are the 510s or 511s dark on the inside? I took one of my pairs of shorts that I don't like and rolled the legs up, but I don't like the color on the cuff
