Advice on scarves to buy/styling
I recently lost my navy scarf from J.Crew (first pic), and this is an opportunity for me to get new scarves because I always felt that it wasn’t working well with the rest of my winter clothes due to it being too similar in color to my navy peacoat, parka etc. I also thought it was too skinny to really feel warm while biking.
Then are some other pictures I’ve taken in the past — I liked the patterns and “bulk” on these better, especially when biking in the city. I don’t have these anymore and would like new ones — however I am interested in not just getting 100% acrylic scarves (one of them is literally a Burberry fake from some random Chinese market from years ago 😅) and calling it a day, but at the very least some higher quality fabrics/fabric blends. I don’t need 100% cashmere or anything, I actually appreciate a good blend that is both warm but also not too “fuzzy” (I am aware that this can also be due to cashmere quality).
Styling wise — I am thinking that I would get at least one solid color scarf for when I’m wearing patterns underneath, and one checkered pattern scarf for when I’m wearing solids. I’ve done pattern mixing before, but that’s the general baseline I’m operating from. Any patterns I wear underneath are usually plaid flannel, or something like a fair isle sweater. I do like blue as a color — maybe a lighter shade would still work with my coats for a solid color? And then maybe something with more earthy brown/tan/beige colors for the patterned one. (And maybe I’ll get another red checkered scarf again at some point! But I want to nail at least two solid purchases before then exploring other options).
Open to all suggestions both for color/styling, as well as any shopping recommendations. I don’t want to break the bank, so no Burberry at $550…but maybe a budget of $75-$100 per scarf?
Interested in hearing what y’all have to say!
