what type of shoes are a bit more professional than plain white sneakers but not too professional that you can also wear every day?

unironically clark's desert boots relatively affordable and toes the business casual line perfectly

I also think Dr Martens 1461 in Crazy Horse Leather can work in this context.

I think I like leather for this type of shoe, but I don't like the look of those dr martens any other suggestions? just looking for a type of shoe not a specific item

Plain toe derby. Desert/chukka boot. A loafer.

Aren't plain toe derby full professional? hard to tell if leather shoes are too professional or not

other types of derbies would work, as would chelsea boots, service boots, some types of combat/work boots, loafers, bluchers, tyroleans, and some leather sneakers sure

difficult to tell what "too professional" means in your context.

Mocs, loafers, bluchers/derbies for shoes. Plenty of boot options too

I think I'll instead find some pictures and then ask what type of shoes they are. Thanks

Chelsea boots in suede if they float your boat

seconding Clark’s Wallabees or loafers as suggested above. Can’t go wrong with Bass Weejuns for loafers imo.

plain toe derbies are fine. oxfords are more formal shoes and best worn with tailoring.
