The Quest for Maturity in IoT Technology and Background Integration
A certain level of maturity is required to become the "background technology".
One of the most significant benefits of implementing IoT capabilities is the seamless improvement of our daily lives. Smart devices can automate repetitive and predictive tasks without bothering users. That way, technology enables people to focus on meaningful topics and utilize potential and creativity.
To achieve that, IoT should invisibly operate in the background. Why are we not there yet? Because most IoT solutions are not robust enough to function this way.
Do you know any IoT device capable of working in the background?

I think because of challenges such as interoperability, security concerns even user awareness and acceptance play a big role to making background IoT technologies more widely used. In addition it requires deep knowledge of both software and hardware.
I agree with everything you mentioned except the user awareness part. IoT solutions should be intuitive and easy to operate in a secure way - unfortunately, we are still far from that.
However, there is now much of IoT device capable of running in the background, such as " Smart Thermostats, Smart Lighting Systems, Home Security Systems... "
For me, "Privacy Considerations" still a very sensitive matter.
Privacy is a huge topic on its own.
The main problem is that commercial providers profit from exploiting users' privacy.
Commercial providers gather sensitive data about users to cross-/up-sell extra products and services. Additionally, IoT service providers sell personal data to advertisers. There is no way for them to earn extra income by respecting users' privacy. @nour_huda
Yes, unfortunately it is about money
Home assistant
And only get stuff that can work fully locally
Hmm ghost ping 🤔
Fully locally operation is not really an IoT deployment 😉
