defrag ur hdd periodically
or an easier solution, move ur game to ssd
Hey sO! So on Amazon, I would recommend getting SAMSUNG 870 EVO SATA III SSD 1TB 2.5" Internal Solid State Drive.
Generally people have less than 1TB of storage on their HDD but lemme know if you have more!
All three major players in the PC storage space have software that can be used to clone everything on another drive over to your new SSD (OS including! All for free!) if you do get this SDD, use Google to search for “Samsung Migration Software”
Hope this helps!
@chilldaddynxv
If you go with Seagate or Western Digital SSD, type into Google seagate migration tool or western digital migration tool. Each brand has a support page just for cloning disks
lmao all my drivers are hdd
damn thank you for the explanation
atm im not in a state to buy a ssd but i know itd be totally worth it
oh ok thanks
No worries! Buy it when you can, but that will 100% decrease those load times
wait
i have this external ssd thing
which i can connect into my pc
does moving game into that work?
That is better than an HDD
@Mix (They/Them)
so il do that?
Yep it works
its 1TB
oh ok thanks il defo try doin that !
wait so i always need to have it plugged on my laptop?
Yep! Just make sure it is actually an external SSD and Not an External HDD
Just when you want to play and while playing
yes it will, but keep in mind that because of the enclosure, external ssds will have higher temps
oh so when it's not connected the game won't open?
Damn
So should I jus go o with my hdd or use this ssd card
It will not open without it becasue the game is commpletely on the external drive
lmak sorry my bad the external drive wasnt ssd it was a 1TB HDD
should i move jt anyways? My pc hdd is like 8years old tho
just defrag them
k
Also bruv currently i have my valo installed in c drive which has very little amount of space left
Do I move into another drive which is empty
Like 200gb empty
hdd tho
it's an up to u
upto me?
I didn't understand
I'm asking will it help
well filesystems such as ext4 don't like very limited available space, and can result in decreased performance
but I'm not sure about NTFS
that one windows uses
also in hdds, files on the rear end of the plate will require the spindle to spin more, resulting in increased IO time
basically the frontier the faster IO time
Damn
So what do you say I move it or I dont
depends
u need to check where ur valo files are located at first
since u said there's only 200gb left on another disk, it's somewhere middle if it's a 500gb disk
but valo can be on the frontier part of ur current disk
so just up to u
also when u defrag using the windows built in tool, there's a step called consolidating, I'm not sure what it does, maybe it moves frequently used files to the frontier part?
Yeah it takes alot of time
nah its unused
Like nothing in it
Pure 200gb
ah yeah then it will be faster
than ur current one
Oh OK thanks for your help
in IO time
read/write speed depends on disk model
oh
Idk abt that I know it's like almost 9 years old
Recently I restsed the system after long time
the only explanation I can find
seems to be outdated, also consolidating takes longer time than defragging for me
ig consolidating is what it moves files in a folder(logical, metadata) to physically closer
Yeah
I've been doing multiple times it stuck at 9%
just wait till done
So I've moved it
It doesn't help much
Loading screen still takes 10mins 😂
guess should jus upgrade
