Update isn’t applying after restart?
Hi, I’m experiencing an issue updating Steam for some reason. I keep getting this update from Jan 12 (see screenshot).
When I apply it, it seems to work (takes about 20min), then I’m prompted to restart. After doing so, it reappears after some amount of time. Usually after another restart.
How can I force this update to apply? It seems like it’s failing. As a side note, if I manually check for updates, it keeps saying that it failed to do so. I’m thinking it may be related.

changelogs in the Steam system menu as shown here are limited to show only the most recent official update from Valve. it is not relevant to Bazzite
each update you apply is different from the last despite what the changelog says
Oh, didn’t know that. I was reading the same exact changelog over and over thinking it was failing.
How do I know it successfully updated? Is there a build number I should look at to compare?
I’m still not clear if this is updating Steam or Bazzite. I honestly don’t know how that all works.
After applying the update, it appears that nothing in the About section changed. Doesn’t look like it applied successfully, which means it probably failed. Trying to check for updates manually still gives an error. Running ujust update seems to work.
It will stop asking you to update
I would try rebasing to latest if all else fails and you have stable internet.
Is there a guide on how to do that? I’m familiar with the concept of rebasing, but have never done it. Rebasing doesn’t nuke my files like reinstalling Windows does, right?

Updates How do updates work? Bazzite updates all of the changes made specifically in Bazzite itself, updates from Fedora’s base packages, and user applications installed. The next reboot will contain the newest changes. How do I update? Desktop images (bazzite, bazzite-nvidia, etc.) System updates happen automatically daily on a schedule and ...

Ah, okay. Odd behavior, but I guess it’ll eventually get fixed. Thanks for that article. I’ll see what happens when I run ublue-update. Rebasing seems really easy if shit hits the fan.
Thanks for your help, everyone!
