Please teach me about macro strategies

Hey guys I'm trying to learn how to play each map optimally, and need much help. So far this are what I know: Split: Fight heavens and give sites, retake with heaven control is easy Breeze: Mid is very important for both teams as the main chokes are difficult to go through Three sites maps like Haven and Lotus: the sentinel usually holds C, and the attackers will usually default and find a site with fewer defenders to attack Ice Box: The attackers almost always attack A, one might lurk through mid. I have no idea why this is the case and need some explanation. Lotus: A main space is very important and usually heavily contested because with A main control, the attackers can threaten both A and B, and not much space is left for the defenders. ^I have no idea if these are correct, so if anything is wrong please point it out, or add the parts I'm missing. Also, looking for all the strategies on all the maps: Ascent, Bind, Breeze, Icebox, Lotus, Split, Sunset, Fracture, Haven. If there are map strategy guides I can read please do share them as well, thank you all so much for any map knowledge you can share!

what you pointed out for each map isn’t really macro btw, just the way people should play the map macro is understanding enemies and adapting to their decisions understanding the game as well

I used the word wrong then, I'm trying to learn how to play each map, not "macro"

consider watching the map guides on breeze, bind, and lotus from valorant coach woohoojin, he explains the way to play each map well i would link them now but im on my phone :/

Will do, but is there a system way to learn this? I just want to know what people do on different maps and the reasons behind

comes with playing the game a lot you will pick up on how the map is optimally played

Like I have no idea why people fight A so much on ice box, B seems to be fine for me and I know that's because I'm not high elo and I lack the knowledge ice box*

problem with this is that in lower ranks, people will play unoptimally it’s because it’s almost impossible to hold site on a with just the space behind a same thing with lotus, but there’s more negatives on lotus other than not being able to hold site

I see, so as defenders I should fight a bit and give A, then play retake. or flank them

yeah. compared to lotus, fighting and then holding the space on a main icebox is harder you normally ask your duelist to scale with some sort of initiator util and hope they get one and get out**

See this is what I'm trying to understand, hope there are map summaries or that sort of knowledge made somewhere, and I can just go read about it. Or hopefully someone kind enough to tell me in this post

there isn’t a one size fits all for each map, thats the problem. there’s just a template of some sort that is optimal to play by, but not guaranteed to work your summaries of each map were basically right i can add on though

split - you got most of it right, but it stems from fighting mid as a defender. normally attackers will play slow (they should at least) and wait for your mid sage wall to break. then they will pressure mid, before splitting b (or a but who goes vents) the mini game for attackers is getting site, planting open for heaven and having a mid lurk. this should be done almost every round, as it’s basically impossible to lose in postplant with a mid lurk. breeze - can’t really give any good info on this as the map is changing soon. small change but really changes how the map is played. again, woohoojins old breeze guide goes over the mini game you should be playing (it’s a viper guide, but explains the map well) haven- as attackers, you should be playing split up across the map most rounds and playing for info. the defenders can’t have 2 people on each side of the map, so you should be playing to exploit this by hitting the site with 1 person. defenders should adapt to the enemy team, if they hard hit sites just fast rotate and have one push up far on the opposite side to hold space. if they play default, you need to come up with a counter that fights for space. a lobby and mid are normally the fightable spots on the map. lotus - fight a main. the people you send and util you use depend on the game, if they fight back hard as 5, then you should just fall back. if they play default then you can confidently hold that space, until they fight back hard. you can’t really get pushed up on these maps without getting a lot of value because of the door and breakable. on attack you should be communicating how you will fight a main (if you will) or what you will do if they fight it. bind - play trap setups with the tps, in solo queue it’s as simple as saying. “yo <person who is playing in shower> tell me when they’re pushing you, me and raze can tp to pinch them.” same thing with hookah as well. you should ALWAYS be fighting for the extremities, showers on a, and you can fight for either hookah or long on b. it is hard to fight site against a good team, so fighting for the space that is not site which will be a 2v2/3 is better than fighting 2v5. call someone to fight with you. btw dont take what I’m saying at face value, it’s a complicated game and im just an immortal player. there are people who know way more than me at the game

Understood, what about ascent and sunset? I think ascent plays a lot similar to bind as both team fight hard for space and not giving the sites, ascent doesn't have TPs so people flank out A/B lobbies to take space... and I have no idea about sunset, I only know reyna lurks mid every round
