no idea about the steamdeck but on bazzite yes, just use proton experimental according to kyle
he has been having a blast on the game
That’s so odd. I did the same exact thing under steam os and the game worked. Now on bazzite and it won’t work.
i dont own or play those kind of games myself so idk much past that sadly
Know anyone else here running bazzite on deck?
not ontop of my head, kyle is the only one i know has bazzite on deck and plays the finals
@Kyle Gospo did you try the finals on bazzite on deck? or did you play it on desktop only so far?
works on deck too
use proton experimental
he did and it didnt work
let it not be another mystery halo infinite-like issue
I am and it boot and works then I get a random hard freeze followed by this
no clue, I would check the proton github issue tracker for that game then
and protondb
working fine here
I already did. That’s got I found out the game worked in the first place.
try deleting compatdata if you haven't already
I did that as well and I still got a hang with the same error I posted before.
Should I delete it again for some reason?
for giggles try forcing dx11
-d3d11
Isn’t this a dx12 game?
it is, yes
Then this…… won’t work?
I’ll try it but I don’t understand
try
-d3d11 -dx11
not sure which one worksDo I put %command% as well?
don't need it
Ok
%command% is only for stuff that must preceed it
Ok. I’m trying -d3d11 now
That didn’t work. Trying the next one
That didn’t work either @Kyle Gospo
rip, I'm out of ideas then
show your performance overlay, maybe your settings are too high
Man fuck this sucks……
It’s on the default settings and if I’m fast enough to get to it before it crashes it shows that it’s set to low
oh that fast huh? not even in-game?
sounds like a game bug to me to be honest
try verifying your game files
We’ll see
You were talking about undervolting earlier, did you actually do that?
Yes and I’m using the same setting I’ve always used they’re stable. Has nothing to do with it.
If this doesn't fix this for you, remove your settings
It found nothing
What settings fam? You mean for the game? How if it keeps crashing?
your undervolt
I already tried this, it changed nothing. I’m also sure it has nothing to do with it because I ran these same exact settings in steamos for more than one round without issue.
I’ve used these settings on all of my games from the moment the settings were available in the bios btw……. Again I’m sure that has nothing to do with it.
Undervolts are not predictable and they can become unstable w/ time
you can always reapply it later, but as long as I'm donating my time & ideas
remove it
I already told you I did…… and I told you the game still crashed…. It was legit the first thing I said. I guess I’m the one being hostile/rude though right? Forget it I’m no longer interested in the game. Thank you for your time.
I simply elaborated to explain I’ve been using these settings for weeks, a little over a month…….
But forget it.
as I said, undervolts are not predictable. I used an undervolt on my Threadripper for over a year that developed instabiltiy w/ time on a single core at a single clock speed
It is best to eliminate them as a source of problems when debugging something
Did you try one of the beta builds of Proton Elemental?
Last week I tried the game and for me it only worked with bleeding edge beta.
(this was on desktop bazzite, not a deck. But was wondering if this could help you)
I assume you mean proton experimental? I just downloaded proton experimental from steam like normal and tried it
You may be able to download what Nivve is referring to through protonup-qt from the discover store
I thought the only things in proton up were tkg,ge, and steam tinker launcher? I’ll take another look
no they mean proton-experimental-bleedinge-edge
which is bleedinge edge proton
it can be accesed by going into the properties of proton experimental > betas
very unstable though
This is indeed what I meant.
Oh shiiiiiit. I had no idea about this. Thanks guys! I’m going to reinstall and give it a shot
Wait
I just went to install the game and it downloaded “proton hot fix” ?
valve probably set hotfix as the default for this title
that's cool
Is that another version of proton? Shit that’s confusing.
Either way I will test and report back
Looks like this is the case. I went into compatibility, and I changed it to the hot fix just to make sure the game boot up now no issues no freezes. It looks like I can play.
if Valve decided that hotfix is needed, you won't need to check the box and set it yourself
check the Game Info tab in the library to see what Valve sets for the game
I thought the same thing till I did just that and it didn’t work. Could just be a one off thing though.
I am currently playing it right now, not on deck but a linux desktop, and it is fine, I didn't touch anything in steam I just clicked install and hit play
This issue has already been solved my friend.
