Fashion's Influence Outside of Fashion - Topic of the day 1/16/24
Did getting into fashion open the doors to other hobbies or have any influence to the one's you were already in?

Well, I want to learn to sew now. But I already have a serious hobby, and not enough time for another one. It influenced my woodworking hobby in that I'm building a valet stand so I can lay out my outfit the night before.
I think it’s pretty obvious fashion and music go hand in hand. Each genre dresses in a different way: ie bladee fans, carti fans, emo punk fans, jazz fans etc
You can tell which music genres are bad by how bad their fans dress 😤
Who Am I a fan of
I can tell ur a big AJR fan Charli

You listen to mainstream hip hop from Atlanta and some indie but like the cool pitchfork indie but not too weird
"cool pitchfork indie"
I feel like I just got roasted

Top 5 artists: trippie redd, lil durk, 100 gecs, tennis and like ovlov or some shit

So im right about pitchfork indie hehe

Back to the actual topic: I learned to very rudimentarily sew
Yes
Gecs on brand but never got into gecs; no on the strokes, yes on Travis Scott but I’m a secret lover
I credit getting into fashion for making me lose ~20 pounds... I had gained a lot from traveling for work and not eating well and found the clothes I liked didn't fit the way I wanted them to
Also I was a film buff before I started paying attention to fashion, so it has been rewarding to start to notice details in costume choices that I used to overlook
Yeah I think I get most of my outside fashion influence from film and music
Not generally the other way around for me
Carly Rae of course, but only emotion/side b
Classic
charli u listen to arca?
kinda, I like arca adjacent and I loved S/T but couldn’t get into the kicks
Would be a fun theme waywt, I think. “Try to evoke a music genre that you like”
I already dress like I listen to hyperpop and shoegaze
lol I was going to say sophie
But also sad bi girl indie, and 90s rap if given the aux
Pretty good
00s rap
I have an uncanny ability to wear the perfect outfit to blend in at any concert
The only miss I’ve had was dressing cunty for a jai Paul concert which was actually supposed to be 2010s indie boy
If portola then cunty was the move
Is Still Woozy not cool anymore cause I feel like he definitely was but I guess that was like 5 years ago
Portola pre-after party so I thought it was gonna be cunty young people but it was just older millennials so I got the vibe wrong completely
Portola I was cunted up both days
Still woozy is cool for ex frat bros who decided women are people too and they need more female friends
Fashion also got me into interior decor, feel like the process of creating outfits, like being aware of color and the shape helped with matching different pieces in my place.
Also got me into exercising but moreso because i want to stay a size small. i spent too much money
Ooh now do me
I generally feel like when people get tired of fashion, they move to interior design. Some kinda similar aesthetic presentation they have control of when they feel they've realized what vision they want to convey on-body.
Grizzly bear? Some 70s funk, maybe some classic rock too?
1 for 3, I like some funk
Yeah I feel like fashion is good practice for when you have more money.
I could see modern jazz, like Christian scott or Jamie branch
I like Brazilian pop music, jazz rap, house, and Sarah Records
Oh shit I wanna know what I dress like
Like bucatini all'Amatriciana
Indie folk, some Wilco, Jason Isbell, maybe Joni Mitchell
I hate Wilco, but that’s not wrong. Not all of what I listen to, but definitely some
Joni Mitchell is such a goat
Court and Spark and Hejira
Incredible
most of the gigs Ive been to in the last year or two its more like dressing to survive it
I stopped buying ugly shit immediately in my other hobbies
except for the multiple exorbitantly expensive computer keyboards I bought
