Domain transfer to Cloudflare without prior setting the DNS servers
Hi, I just bought a used domain and got the AuthCode from the seller. I want to transfer it to Cloudflare as my registrar. The problem is, cloudflare won't let me type the AuthCode if my domain is not marked as "available" and selected in the process.
I'm pretty sure I need to add the domain's DNS to cloudflare first. This makes things annoyingly complicated, because now with the AuthCode ready, I need to first transfer it to a different registrar, pay the fees, set the DNS to Cloudflare's, and then again transfer to Cloudflare paying the fees again...
Obviously I don't have access to the current domain panel, since it's seller's account and I just got the transfer code. Any way to solve this?

Unfortunately not, you would have to transfer to another registrar, then after the waiting period transfer to Cloudflare registrar. However, you will be able to use CF's DNS features as soon as the domain is in your control at the other registrar.
Never seen anything like that by other providers that would enforce the DNS change prior the AuthCode transfer. Double the fees + waiting period... Wow. I would really like to keep the domain by Cloudflare from the begining.
I guess I'll try to ask the domain seller to set the DNS for me.
Yeaaaa it's not great. Registrar has these limitations because it doesn't do any markup on registration fees. They want you to be using other Cloudflare products, and they enforce that by not letting you change nameservers and by only letting you transfer in once the nameservers are set to Cloudflare's.
Yeah, I can totally understand that. Business is business, altho I'm all-in cloudflare customer and it would be great to just transfer the domain without playing games :v Hopefully the domain seller would be nice enough to set these for me.
