This also causes overheating as its stuck at 3800rpm
rpm-ostree status
pleasesystemctl status jupiter-fan-control
that's interesting -- your fan controller is definitely failing to run
I just double checked and it's running on both my LCD & OLED deck
try running what's after ExecStart as root
see what it spits out
wait what you mean
Run that but with sudo?
sudo + that
copy and paste
ok
So do I type sudo execstart?
no, contents after execstart
sudo /usr/
Oh
is fantastic still installed?
I Uninstalled it
have you rebooted since?
Yes
I think it overheated when I was playing beamng
the config file lives in the immutable filesystem, it appears to be getting hung up on DMI
which is how it communicates with the fan controller
could be some part of fantastic is still running & consuming that
Weird
Because this problem happened when. I first installed this
I actually saw an error message on boot once saying
Jupiter fan control failed
And then it just booted or something
modinfo steamdeck-hwmon
modinfo steamdeck
anyway jupiter-fan-control isn't necessary regardless, enabling updated fan control is what enables the service
if you disable it, the motherboard itself is designed to set the fan speedWell it doesn't change either way
that's how the deck shipped
in steam os
so a failing to start jupiter-fan-control service just means you have a louder (and quieter) deck
as they shipped
ok
I just don't want it to overheat in my games anymore
if you're still overheating I would switch back to SteamOS to be sure
and then RMA
Ok
modinfo btw
don't see modinfo there
Wrong one
yeah that's good, means the driver responsible for creating the fan control interfaces loaded
So is the fan just gonna be always on like this at the same rpm?
I'm afraid I have no solution for you, this is stock valve software
I would switch back to steamos and try it there, if you get the same behavior then it's hardware failure and I would get an RMA
Ok then
Thanks for helping
Also is it possible to transfer all my deckyloader data to steam os?
I don't wanna redo the theme again
yes that gets placed into ~/homebrew
you can back it up and restore it
Awesome
I love how the speakers stopped working
Could it be possible I broke some fan controller because I was installing a new ssd today in the steamdeck
that's possible, yes
could also just be unplugged
Like I said, with no service the motherboard itself controls the fan
where is it located?
check the hardware section of the deck discord, people much more well versed on this than I there
It definitely was bazzite because the fan now works in steam os
runs quiet now
