do these pics show extra fabric to extend the inseam?
Hi,
These PRL linen pants cuffed have an inseam of 28". They've already been hemmed. The seller says his guess is uncuffing adds an extra 1.5" to inseam no more. In the second pic I've attached however, I'm not really sure what I'm saying. Is there extra fabric inside the pants leg that can be used to lengthen the inseam that's shown in that photo?
Thank you!

Also anyone know how heavy the linen is on vintage PRL pants? These say made in usa and the cut is quite wide (9" leg opening) if that's any help
You could try to let out the inseam further than just releasing the cuff but it may look weird if there’s any wear at the top of the cuff where it’s folded over - you’d potentially end up with a line across the pants above the actual finished seam
Thank you! From where would you be letting out the inseam further? Is there extra fabric inside the pants legs?
If you imagine removing all the seams from the end of the pants the fabric would end at the jaggedy-cut bits that are currently on the side of the leg. To create a finished seam, you just need told fold up a little bit of fabric on the inside of the pant leg and sew it there, so theoretically you could let out the full cuff plus all the fabric currently inside the leg and sew a new line using the minimum amount of fabric possible
Very helpful thank you!
How much would you be willing to pay for these given risks involved in altering the inseam? $20-25 all in?
Tbh I mostly just buy my stuff new bc I hate the second hand dance
You can't really find linen trousers like these new
Maybe, or maybe not. I don’t own a lot of clothes though, so I generally (try to) let things pass if I can’t find the right thing
But I mostly say this to say that I have no idea how much stuff goes for on eBay etc
So I have no idea is $25 is good or a ripoff
What the seller says is probably true, maybe even a bit much from what I can tell.
What do you mean? What about them is unique?
The linen is worn out already which is why you can't find them new. /S
Dressier linen trousers in full cuts
Might be harder to find now but come spring/summer they’ll be a lot more common. Natalino will likely have some, nice full cut on those
Are they a fuller cut than their regular trousers? The leg opening on those is only 7.5"
Ah, I guess I’m more used to looking at sz 52 but I bet you’ll have tons more options in the summer
Natalinos are pretty slim, even their roomiest cuts. Suitsupply Duca might be an option. Might not be this roomy either though.
Those are v nice, thank you.
