Why does my fleece feel way worse despite following laundry labels?
Not that the softness is gone but the texture is noticeablely different and there was lots of lint on the clothes after drying. I followed proper instructions which said to wash inside out on cold and tumble dry low. Anyone know what’s up?? It’s not as soft as it was before and I’m kinda annoyed at that tbh

Did you empty the lint trap before you dried it
I didn’t this time but I don’t remember being much in the filter
I guess that would explain the lint regardless but why would the fleece feel so much worse
Only thing I can think of is the tumble dry went longer than it should’ve and I missed it
you can lightly spray water on it and use a horsehair brush or similar to raise the nap again
be very gentle though
easy on the water and brushing
what you mean raise the nap
make it fluffy again
It’s still pretty soft but it looks and feels different than it was before
This one in particular was first time washing drying it so I know how less soft it feels
Hmmm ok the brushing might not help much here, that's more for when its really matted
yeah it’s not that matted yet but it feels it’s way more matted than it should be from only 1x wash dry
you think I screwed something up somehow
I don’t put anything in the dryer even if the tags says it’s okay, it’s just too risky
I don't think so. I wouldn't tumble dry fleece again tho despite the tag saying so
Try the brushing thing. it's always worked for me
yeah I’m just gonna hang dry frombnow on
Only reason I even washed these was cause there was noticeable stiffening agent / chemicals
Sucks that happened tho
but I should’ve just air dryed
Ah some brands use fabric softener or other stuff to make fabrics seem nicer than they are. And then once you wash it's not as nice
Nah it was stiff
Probably stiffening agent and stuff for when they leave in warehouse or ship them
Wouldn’t fabric softener have it be soft on outside lol
@raisin you think I should’ve used fabric softener and dryer sheets btw
Air drying is the way. It's a huge advantage to have a modern washer with a super fast spin, tho. Most things air dry really fast
A lil detergent is all you need. I have a kit for stain cleaning but that's different
yeah I did detergent only
Yep I think I’ll stick to machine wash but air dry for the drying
Btw anyone know why some new hoodies feel so stiff ? Is it just the fabric blend
