How to safely downgrade bluez?
I am running Bazzite F39 Deck on a custom HTPC, and I would like to downgrade Bluez to get PS5 DualSense controllers working. Does anyone have a guide on how to safely do this without breaking anything else in the system? (bluez version is currently 5.71)

I was able to get my 2 DualSenses paired on my Deck with the current version of bluez, but my Switch Pro controller didn't
I don't know how this helps other than being a bland "works for me" comment though
You're on bluez 5.71?
I still have to restart the bluetooth daemon at boot to pair Dualsense
yes I am
Was looking at this, it seems someone built a patched older version to resolve some of the issues, but the command doesn't work for me https://github.com/ublue-os/bazzite/commit/0ec9cf16ff8e7e9f013b03e87fc512eab7830867
I didn't even think of downgrading yet because it wasn't a priority as I ended up just holding the Deck in hand when playing on the TV with family haha
well if most people no longer have the issue then I should be checking elsewhere I suppose. Maybe it's my BT dongle (this is a desktop build and not an actual Deck)
My original issue is still open though and I've heard people mention that downgrading is a fix https://github.com/ublue-os/bazzite/issues/295#issuecomment-1751743995

Trouble pairing PS5 DualSense controllers · Issue #295 · ublue-os/b...
I have installed bazzite 1.1.0 from the ISO available @ https://ublue.download/bazzite-deck-38-x86_64.iso on an all AMD HTPC build that I had previously been using with holoISO. I am having trouble...
i just tested the dualsense on my htpc and it works, it has its own bluetooth wifi card and not a dongle.
all 3 of my dongles also work
2 CSR chipsets and 1 realtek
so i am scratching my head too why it will not work for you then
Hi @HikariKnight What is the make/model of your BT card? I have a free slot
I will also test this on my desktop tonight. I know I have used my DSes on my PC a few times, but I don't recall if it's as recent as bluez's update
it's also a bt chipset on the mobo, which won't really be of help either heh
its integrated in the mobo but i will have a look sec
MEDIATEK Corp. MT7921 802.11ax PCI Express Wireless Network Adapter [14c3:7961]
its integrated with that cardMaybe I can find a USB or PCIe one with that chipset. It's different from the one I have
thx
let me grab the usb ones for you too
Does the BT portion of the card show up as a separate line in lspci?
0a12:0001 Cambridge Silicon Radio, Ltd Bluetooth Dongle (HCI mode)
realtek one wont give me a model number
plus its unbranded which is also super helpfulMy problematic one is a Realtek
keep in mind that CSR one is encompassing multiple chipsets so i cant really recommend any either
all i know is that the usb dongle is from Trust
on my desktop, connected to my DualSense right now
I have ordered an MT7921 based Wi-Fi / BT PCIe card and will give that a try next
The MT7921 BT card seems to be working properly! I did run one last test with the old Realtek USB dongle -- still doesn't work, but with this new one the DualSense works right away. 🙂
awesome!
nice. stinks you had to buy new hardware, but at least it works now
True
It's another life lesson in avoiding cheap Realtek stuff, I suppose.
