UK Men, where do you find 'Men's Quarter Zip Jumper'?? I only see Next, UNIQLO, and Reiss.
I'm talking about a standard fit (nothing with a crazy oversized look, no ugly logos, somewhat thicker material than Merino).
UNIQLO only has Merino wool, Reiss is £99 (that says it all), and Next have the best colour options + they fit great in the shoulder (getting it hemmed still).
But I'd like other options to try/ compare.
Where do you shop for them?
Google does not show many results..(suprisingly)!
P.S I'd like something under/around £50 and somewhat thicker material.
With Merino, I know it's more popular with 1/4 zips. I'm not ruling out Merino wool, but it's more of a 2nd option atm.
Or maybe I can have Merino as a smarter option, and the e.g Next (thicker material) as an everyday.
Recommend me! 🙂

You're not going to find many people here recommending or buying quarter zips. If you're happy with the next ones just stick to them, maybe see what Marks and Spencer or John Lewis have. The John Lewis website currently has over 100 options, M&S 70+ options, both do click and collect so you can try on/return in a store if there's one near you.
At £50 you're probably confined to high street brands, and pure wool is likely to have limited options at that budget too. Cotton or even poly fleece might be more viable.
What do you mean by people on here not recommending/buying quarter zips?
Also, do you mean cotton/poly fleece as in polyster as more options?
. (Accidental overwrite)
Wait are you serious about Quarter zips not being fashionable/stylish?
I swear the've rocked the scene the last few years.
I see loads on Instagram styling them, + (not that I'm building for this) but that 'old money' look.
Basically, chinos/trouseres and a quarterzip look, look so good!
Also, makes sense at better meterials + higher prices, so I'll look into those!
"there's some limited circumstances where they'll work" but broadly speaking they don't look good in a lot of wardrobes.
Is a quarter zip worn in the rainy UK more likely to make you look like a middle aged middle class dad who just buys what's on sale at the local department store, or are you really going to capture the "I'm rich and on holiday in the Italian riviera and dressing lazily" vibe that influencers on Instagram carefully curate?
Wait, I'm not talking about outdoor fleece quarter zips you use to go on a treck.
I'm talking about the smarter / casual quarter zip lol.
I also never realized that quarter zip is supposed to not be fashionable. I wear them and thought they look good. No comment on whether I look like a middle aged dad.
I'm at a loss as how there is no like / popularity to 1/4 zips (smart)>
Maybe it's a UK/ EU thing lol?
I know you're not.
I'm in the UK.
oh
lol
suprisingly there isnt a lot about this jumper type on r/mfa so it makes sense.
But at the same time I also see a fairly decent amount of people wear them.
Suprised really.
"what a lot of people wear" isn't the same thing as "stylish" or "fashionable".
Also, I thought merino doesn’t necessarily mean thin?
It doesn't but it does tend to be knitted at a narrower gauge than for example lambswool.
Yea fair
FWIW I have a quarter zip from John Smedley, thrifted from ebay, but it is pretty lightweight.
So what is the latest 'styling/fashionable' set of clothing for men?
As being suprised that 1/4 zips are not, is there, like the BB image, something that visually shows me quickly?
I'm curious if anything lol.
Crew necks or turtle/roll necks are nearly always going to look better than a quarter zip.
ah ye I've seen loads of these.
My submission in defense of quarter zips; please excuse the horrible cropping job
Ye quite nice as a smart / business casual kinda look
Speaking from a place of bias, wool crew necks or turtle/rolls necks like cdf suggested look far better than a quarter zip. Quarter zips just scream guy trying to look 'smart' in the office to me.
You can check for Harley of Scotland or Jamieson's on vinted/ebay etc
Plenty other examples but those are just two that immediately spring my mind
I won’t dispute what wearing it does or doesn’t look like, I’ll just mention why I like it: I like the “layers” it creates at the collar area. You have the shirt collars, then the quarter zip, and then the coat/jacket lapels. Similar to having a scarf, in a way.
Interesting perspective.
I thought it gives off a nice, smart vibe.
Wether in an office, or at a family event, walking around.
I guess there's no harm in buying it still lol
Has there been some post / concencus of these thoughts as well?
Or it's just generall thought of as too smart?
It's not that it's too smart. It's just that there's nearly always a better option.
Cardigans
It's essentially trying to be a roll neck, a crew neck and maybe even a shawl at the same time and does none of those things well, making it less versatile than it seems.
actually for the budget you're on you can get a nice wool cardigan second hands for like 30-40 quid
As someone who went through a Quarter Zip phase in his twenties, I have to agree here unfortunately. From a fashion perspective, I was unable to pair with anything I had (outside the office), but did sometimes wear it to the office.
The biggest defense I have for the Quarter Zip is comfort. Working 14+ hours in the office, I can agree that Quarter Zips are more temperature versatile.
Sounds like everyone just wears it for work/office lol.
How about a casual evening/day out?
Smart basics with chinos and Trainers/boots?
That was certainly an option, but I didn't own any Chinos and Boots back in the day, sure can do it now, but I've stashed away most of my QuarterZips, I'm still in my SweaterVest/Arcteryx phase for work haha
