What is causing the shoulder divot on my wedding suit?
Hello everyone! My wedding suit has this very unfortunate divot underneath the shoulder. I can't tell if the jacket is too tight, too big, or if it's the sleeve pitch. The more important question is whether or not a tailor could save it?

I think the jacket is slightly wide there, overall the fit is good tho so I wouldn't worry about it. Too expensive/not worth tailoring
Thank you!
Little imperfections like that will always happen on items that aren't bespoke, unless you're super lucky. I think it looks fine.
Thanks!
Let's back up a step. Did you get this new and is it within the return window? Can you try on other jackets?
The thing about shoulder divots is that many people wear jackets with divots. They're not supposed to be there and they're really not fine when so pronounced to people who want to see 'correct fit' but because many people do, certainly so can you, nobody will think less of you. I wouldn't be stoked about this for any jacket or suit, let alone one I paid more than $50 for, let alone one for a wedding.
It was new, I already wore it for the wedding, and no I certainly cannot return it lol.
As to technical causes, divots are usually caused by an incorrect arm opening shape for your arm. Usually it's your arm stretching the armhole into a shape it's not meant to take, which pulls other parts and causes a divot. There is a famous thread on it at styleforum. Divots can be caused by there being too much material and it not draping right, or sleeve pitch, as well. I can't tell you which it is, just make an educated guess; a tailor would. But a tailor would rarely be able to fix this with a reasonable amount of work.
Well, congrats on the nuptials!
Since you already own it, just wear it
And don't worry about the divot
Life is imperfection and so forth
Thank you both for the congrats and the information! That's interesting now that you mention it, I do feel my arm pulling against the front of the arm hole, so that's probably what it is!
Yep, if so, you basically cannot fix it without a significant amount of re-cutting, which is virtually never worth doing. So, wear it in good health and always let it remind you of one of the best days of your life!
Cheers!
