Hiking boots + tapered pants
Do hiking boots (and bigger boots in general) simply go only with wider trousers, or is there a way to make them work with tapered ones?
I have a pair of hiking boots but every time I put them on they feel quite big and I’m thinking they’d be more at home with wide pants. I don’t have very wide pants, though. I attached some pictures wearing them with pants with different leg opening.
Khaki chinos - 21.5cm
Indigo and ecru jeans - 20cm
Cords - 19cm
Fatigues - 18.5cm
White chinos - 18cm
I think down to 20cm it looks fine (?). I’m not sure about the cords and fatigues. And I think the white chinos with the 18cm opening are too slim for them.
+1: ecru jeans look better cuffed, right?
Any input from you is much appreciated.

They do work and aren't as obviously as incongruent as skinny jeans + big boots imo
It's just preference really
Personally find tapered can be awkward depending on leg opening v boot shaft
For example look at ASOS
You either have the choice of cropped or get looser jeans
Or they ride up/get stuck
Plus if your boots have pull tabs it can get even more silly
