One thing I still find tricky about is the development environment. Each manufacturer is having their own IDE flavors built on top of eclipse or so. This might get confusing and often end up having multiple IDEs installed (I have 6 :/ which is not so cool considering the frequency of usage of each ). One thing that can be done with some study is to have own build environment developed that is flexible considering different manufacturers, their toolchains and variants of controllers - here's an article vouching this activity https://www.embedded.com/5-reasons-to-build-your-own-c-c-environment/
Would be curious to know what ya'll think about this and do share if you have any experience building such agnostic development environment supporting multiple controllers.
