Which Microcontroller do you use or plan to use in your project?
I did a small Poll on Twitter two days back, ESP32 seems to be the winner, no doubt a very popular platform these days. here is the direct link: https://x.com/aggarwal_pallav/status/1731178832260907281?s=20, good to see 1868 votes, so we have some validation

Lots of love for ESP32 but not sure how long that will last…. .10 MCU, RISCV, etc. on the way!
it is not easy to support, provide good documentation, low cost development board all together for years together, 10 years now since we see ESP chips?
who ever can do it, will take a share in the pie
STM32 has done it
thats why it is still most used and most popular
WCH CH32V003 10 Cent MCU is good but cannot be used everywhere, it has limitations, still not many people are exploring I feel, I don't see 100s of engineers, makers started explore, talking a lot on platforms, may be it is picking up slowly.. may be people are thinking it as cheap chinese MCU so not for them..
Yeah but isn’t that kind of how ESP32 started..?
I think ESP32 got much more attention due to additional WIFI attached to it in ESP8266. Espressif did many things right, like focused on what customer will need 1st, long term availability of chips, supporting makers developers who were using their chips.
I think WCH is not as aggressive in promotions
let us see what comes in the future
as an engineer I am very excited, Let us se what is there next for us to learn.
Very true, Wifi and Bluetooth stack did help Espressif. But now they are enjoying First Mover Advantage. And I think they deserve it. When it comes to other similar MCUs everyone offers the same features with (almost) the same cost incl. peripheral driver/IDE support. I feel many of these companies now focusing on developing low-code frameworks for their MCUs to compete
Yes, companies need to focus on how they can make developers life easy by wizards to generate interface init code or by providing a low-code platform or by providing more domain specific application reference designs, these helps a lot. Once developer is happy with that Chip, it goes into millions of devices. I heard ESP shipped 1 billion chips so far, WOW!
Absolutely, simplifying the development process with tools like interface code generators, low-code platforms, and domain-specific reference designs can significantly enhance developer productivity. The success of ESP, having shipped 1 billion chips, underscores the impact of making developer experiences smoother in contributing to widespread adoption and success in the market. It's a testament to the importance of developer-centric strategies in the tech industry.
I would like to know your opinion about Espressif's ZeroCode https://zerocode.espressif.com/. It seems like they are creating an ecosystem of hardware for matter devices.
Espressif Zero Code
ESP ZeroCode makes Matter enabled products creation effortless!
I have't got a chance to try, once I or one of my team member try it, I will share a feedback.
Sure, thank you!
Insane! That's a good number of votes. Which one do you like - twitter or linkedin polls?
where you have engagement its works, I have bigger India based engagement on Linkedin and Bigger US, Europe based engagement on Twitter
