Why type of shoes are these?

Hi, what type of shoes are these and where can I get an upgraded version? I would like still to wear 'em in casual settings w/ normal pants. I don't want a dressy version that i can only wear with dress pants. I don't mind spending about 200 - 250 CAD.

Wingtip Balmoral Oxfords or fullbrogue, don't wear them like in your picture. If you want to wear them more casually get follbrogue derbies (open lacing)

Yes, they can be worn casually. I'd suggest not buying from hockerty though. Their products are garbage. I guess you're from Canada so no clue what shoes are available over there but probably Allen Edmonds?

As has been said, these are shortwing brogues / wingtips, the closed lacing makes them an oxford/balmoral, and they're some sort of light tan which makes them kind of hard to wear, as they're a combo of higher formality shape and lower formality details. I would probably recommend Allen Edmond standmoks either on sale or new / like-new on ebay, to sort of replicate the look. The 'rules' will say you can't really wear these with jeans, and I would tend to agree, but it's a free country after all. The 'more correct' strategy would be either to go for a darker color and wear them with dress pants, or to go for a shortwing or longwing derby/blucher shoe instead of the bal/oxford. Also I have no idea what's going on with the pants in this photo.

Thanks for the help. Allen Edmonds is quite pricy. Are there any brands that are one tier below? Regarding the pants, I am wearing long johns underneath the pants 😂 https://www.allenedmonds.ca/en/product/mens-strandmok-cap-toe-oxford-with-dainite-rubber-sole-7014667/brown-saddle-leather-ec0500038 this look really nice but ouch at the price.

I never got this: you're cold and even need to wear long Johns but you still wear sneaker socks? Why?
