This was one of my favorite if not my absolute favorite fit of this year. My goal this past year was to transition to mostly vintage for my entire wardrobe and its been getting easier and easier to complete an entire fit with all vintage garments. I also spent this year getting more into ivy so i think my goal for this next year will be to continue to explore and flesh out that style.
While my style has a lot of range and can be a little all over the place these fits reminded me a lot of what I like wearing the most. So trying to refocus my style a bit going forward.
This fit has felt the most "me" since I got into fashion. I finally said fuck it, went full villain 😈, and haven't looked back. Big coat, big boots, normal silhouette, and a dark, distressed version of the ivy blazer and chinos. My style goal for 2024 is somewhere between punk/gorp/lazy luxe, so I want to add more tech clothes/fabrics and contrasting luxe pieces like silk scarves and (faux) furs.
current: big
future aspirations: big
i also want to put that dog toy back in the bin, maybe one day
This was probably my favorite fit of the year. I was really happy with the simple color combinations and silhouette from my coat. Goal for this year was to complete my ivy capsule wardrobe and I pretty much have! In addition nearly every piece of clothing I own was made in America, Great Britain, Europe or Japan, this was a small goal but I’m glad I’ve met it. Looking forward to branching out and buying fun stuff next year now that the capsule is complete.
2023 goals are to continue to be Him
At the end of 2022 I thought "Now this is my style."
At the end of 2023 I'm thinking "Now THIS is my style."
And I'm fully expecting to be saying the same at the end of 2024. I think my interests are too varied to narrow my style down to a genre or whatever and I love taking inspiration from others.
Participating on here has opened me up to way too many new ideas so I'm just excited to soak up more inspiration and see where it guides me in the new year with an open mind.
Goals for 2024: Enjoy myself. Wear things I like that make me happy. And probably buy better shoes.
I’d say this fit represents me best and also where my style is now. Little bit of workwear, little bit of prep, little bit of whatever IG is recommending me right now, little bit of fishing. I’ve struggled over the years to marry my influences well but I think that this is the first year I really have done that. Additionally, I’ve bought far less things and spent far less money this year on clothes, but been far more satisfied with myself and my wardrobe. Looking forward to next year where my goal is to really just focus on buying less stuff and shopping more from my own closet. Also purchasing more shit secondhand instead of feeling constant desire to buy new.
A few of my favorites. They are all very recent, which gives me hope that I'm getting it. #1 didn't get a lot of votes, but something about it seems the most "me". #2 makes me happy, and people seemed to like it. #3 is very familiar, like something I would have worn pre-MFA -- but better.
