Los Angeles
We are going to be in Los Angeles over the holidays. Where should we go shopping? (We used to live in LA, but that was before I was interested in clothes and fashion.)

Self Edge & 3Sixteen if you’re into that stuff
Wasteland, Rose Bowl Flea Market if you're gonna be in town during it
Really depends on where you are/what youre looking for! If youll be in the Los Feliz/Silver Lake area Mohawk General Store has great stock and has both a mens and a womens store right next to each other. If you're looking for secondhand stuff both the Crossroads in the area usually have good stuff. on Vermont Ave Squaresville is a great vintage shop and Half Off Clothing is a discount store with weird stock, but sometimes they randomly have good stuff like LVC jackets. Theres also Los Feliz Flea every Saturday at John Marshall High School.
In Highland Park Snake Oil Provisions and Freenote Cloth are always fun to stop by. Theres a stretch of La Brea with a lot of good stores, American Rag, General Quarters, and a lot of individual brand stores. If you're in that area you have to stop by Mister Freedom too.
If you want to look at some higher end designer stuff I think Melrose Place is more interesting than Rodeo Drive/Beverly hills. You can go all the way down Melrose to the RRL store and there are some good secondhand places in the area too, Crossroads, Wasteland, Buffalo Exchange etc.
If you happen to be in the Arts District Dover Street Market is always fun to look around, and if you happen to be up in the Burbank/Glendale area I'd be happy to show you around some of my favorite thrifts haha. Hope all that helps!
Thanks! We are staying downtown and have a rental car. We used to live in Venice, so there's a good chance we'll go by Abbott Kinney and 3rd St Sa Mo for old times' sake.
All the thrift store and flea market recs are great. Melrose I vaguely remember, but was never really on my radar before. RRL store sounds like a great place to go and cry because I'll want most of it and I'm too damn cheap. 😂
Rodeo drive is for looking at people, not clothes.
Sounds good! I'm really never in Venice/Santa Monica so I can't say much about it. If you think you'll cry at the RRL store then you DEFINITELY need to go to Mister Freedom haha. Forgot to mention, Raggedy Threads in Little Tokyo is a good vintage store for expensive true vintage stuff.
and as GSH said if you happen to be in town on the second sunday of the month the Rose Bowl flea market is a must
Ooh... we'll be right by Little Tokyo
We're there Dec 28-Jan 3, so sounds like we'll miss the Rose Bowl flea market
ah too bad, Los Feliz flea is also pretty decent but nothing compared to the rose bowl haha
Dover Street Market was cool, but way above my skill level
I saw @mewball 's jacket in person.
