Suit pants are too big - normal dress pants ok? What color button down should I wear?

I’m going to a company Xmas party this afternoon, and my suit pants are WAAAY to baggy in the front. Can I wear these black dress pants with my suit? I need to buy a button down and a tie, any recommendations on colors for both? I was thinking of a white button down, but completely unsure on the tie. Thank you!!!

Maybe a black shirt instead of white?

Personally I'd prefer non black pants but if your options are limited to two - poor fit or black - I'd pick black. For shirts, black shirts are sort of a trendy-party look most of the time. It's not a bad thing but white is a standard that's easy to wear. I'd pick white. Point collar or button-down collar are fine. I would prefer white shirt in poplin with a point collar for versatility over a white shirt in oxford cloth with a button-down collar. (Unless you mean "button down" to say button-front shirt? Button down refers specifically to a collar that buttons down and many if not most such shirts are oxford cloth which is a rougher pebbled cotton, over poplin which is smooth.)

I was referring to dress shirt with button down, but thank you for all the tips! I personally prefer point collars myself. What about a tie?

For a tie to a Christmas party I'd like a nice splash of color. Lavendar, burgundy, burned orange, brass, etc. Rather than the more conservative simpler dark colors and striped ties. But you cannot go wrong with a conservative tie pretty much anywhere. Dark solid colors, visual or actual texture and/or small repeating patterns.
