Watch cap recommendations
Looking for some recs on a wool watch cap (ideally under $50). Beanies never look good on me but I want to give watch caps a shot in hopes that the lower crown looks better. Also, something that’s more forgiving size wise would is preferred (I wear a 7 1/2 in fitted hats).

I recently picked up a Donegal Yarn one and before that a Universal Works that I like both. They aren't super short so will still cover your ears
Upstate Stock is a great option. If you're okay with cotton, look at them, Knickerbocker, and Buck Mason. If you're set on wool, look at Anián, Heimat, and Asket.
The Merz B. Schwanen "ribbed structure watch cap" in merino wool comes in right around $50

You can also go to a surplus store and get a wool watch cap relatively cheap. Might itch like a bitch at first though.
