When does cloudflare images new pricing will be in effect ?
I recently read in blogpost about cloudflare images new pricing changes. But it seems to be not in effect yet.

This was finally released can update your pricing model: https://dash.cloudflare.com/?to=/:account/images/delivery-zones
How does delievered vs served differ ? New pricing seems to be still same
It seemed to be different from what mentioned in blog
In other words, if you resize one image to 100x100, then our new pricing model guarantees that you will be billed only once per month, whether there are 10K or 100K uncached requests to deliver the image at this size. If you resize 200 images to 100x100, then you will be billed for only 200 unique transformations β one for each image at this size β each month.
you're looking at CF Images Pricing, not Image Resizing
I guess it is kind of confusing because it shows you that first, but if you click through to Confirm Payment it shows the Image Resizing/Transformations pricing
The blog mentioned both were getting merged. So it was still confusing to me π
The products are being merged into one product/offering, the prices aren't. There's new pricing for image transformations, same as old for images itself
yeah thats why I didnt click to go on to next page, thinking i would be charged, so came here to clear the doubt
I think it would really help, if cloudflare can release a new blog post on pricing update.
I agree that screen makes it confusing but not sure how a new blog would help
It just needs to show the Image Transformations pricing as well on the first step and not on the last
since the mentioned blog post released, many people here on discord and on reddit are asking if pricing change has been applied or not. But since it was delayed, I think a blog post would help get attention on that
Green names like me aren't employees, just helpful community members, so it's not up to me, but I don't think they would have a new blog post just saying it came out.
Ohh, sorry didnt knew that. Thanks for the update though
unsmart went back through and replied to everyone he found asking about it in here, about all we can do on that front
but yea, just select the new plan without any storage and you're on the new pricing, the confirmation page before you click Purchase should reflect that as wel
i think it would eventually get better on the pricing page as well.
either way, i would go ahead with what you mentioned.
btw just a little doubt,
can i use r2 with no storage option ?
R2?
R2 is Cloudflare S3 compatible storage
Storing image on R2 and using transformation only
Oh yeah you can for sure
Got it, thanks
@w3bcode I'm the PM for Images β good suggestion! we're working on a new blog post to let people know that they can update their pricing plan now. any chance you'd be open to chatting with me about your use case and any thoughts you have about pricing?
feel free to DM me directly on Discord or send me an email: [email protected]
Definitely agree that the new pricing is confusing. I have been waiting for this for months since the blog post only mentions the $0.50 per 1,000 images transformed, leading myself and others to think that's the only cost. But in the new version, it does seem that there's still a charge for images delivered at $1.00 per 100k deliveries, which seems the same as previous? https://developers.cloudflare.com/images/pricing/
The delivery cost is only if you use Images as your storage provider
The only cost is the $0.50/1000 unique transforms per month
We do use Images at the storage provider
Oh ok this wasnt any changes to the images pricing only to the image resizing feature. Images as the storage provider still has the same delivery cost
I understood from the birthday blog post that the new pricing model for Images was one of Storage Fees (no change) and Transform Fees to replace Request Fees. So it seems I must have misunderstood that and Request Fees are remaining which is dissapointing
It's odd because it seems it would be cheaper to use something like R2 (with transforms) instead of Images storage... since the per-request costs are so high. Will have to look into it
It is. I wouldnt be surprised if Images as the storage provider replicates data though which could explain higher cost. R2 does not replicate data but I personally think it doesnt matter that much to replicate so π€·
I mean the thing is too Images is a whole images pipeline. You can have your users upload directly via an API designed for images. You easily can use different variants/formats, its all built around Images.
R2 is just a generic object store. You throw anything in, you get exactly that out. You can combine R2 + the new Image Resizing though, if that fits your purpose better
1$ or 1k$?
Hello Deanna,
Thank you for reaching out to know more about pricing doubts for images and the use case.
I am already hosting my blog on Cloudflare, so wanted to host images as well. Currently if I use Cloudflare images storage, I get charged for image delivery ( which from the announcement blog post ) said that its getting merged and i dont have to care about cached delivery anymore.
But when I went on dashboard to use Images with storage, I was charged with previous delivery count.
It would really help to be more clear, what changes are exactly made, as a reference from previously announced blog post. The confusion came from the announcement made in that blog post, it seems to me that the transformation pricing only applies if I use external storage ( or even cloudflare r2 as storage )
