shirt wearing thin at pockets?
I got a western snap button levis shirt, and after perhaps 5 or so wears noticed the fabric looks thin, or worn thin near the top corners of the pockets.
Is this a really common thing that I haven't noticed with other clothes or am i headed for a repair/replace with better?
Pictures show both sides, and held against the light to help show the issue.
I have spotted similar wear at the edge of pockets on some jeans in the past but that has been with rather cheap jeans that were wearing through elsewhere.

This is relatively common and caused by several sets of stitching meeting at that point. It's relatively common for clothes to fail at these points. Better stuff might see it a bit less, but it's also usually a fairly easy repair if you need to patch it.
Broadly speaking, Levi's is in the "cheap clothes" category.
Thanks! And I noticed a different levi shirt I have doesn't have this but it is a thicker material.
Is it unusual how quickly I am seeing it? I have seen clothes wear through at these points but only to a level I would bother repairing a few times.
Yeah, and a good sewing machinist can help avoid it by getting the tension on the fabric just right, but in mass production that's gonna be less likely to happen
It's difficult to tell from these photos how "bad" it is, you're probably picking it up more than anyone else would and it's likely fine. Machine washing/drying on a high spin cycle is going to make stuff like this more likely too.
And I guess it will be a long time before it actually wears through isn't it? I imagine the shirt suddenly tearing off at the pocket but it probably has many wears in it.
Will try to manage washing too often and stick to slow spins.
