What do you wear to family gatherings? Do you ball out or play it safe? Are there family members you’ve bonded with over clothes/fashion?

my family are not the type to give a shit what people wear to family gatherings, so I can have fun with it and wear what I like :) I bond with my sister over fashion and luckily for me, she actually learned some tailoring so I can ask her if I have technical questions about that stuff ❤️
I try to have a good fit on but in a more classic casual way. Good sweater wool pants loafers or boots kinda thing. If im meeting with family outside of my immediate mom dad and brother and im wearing a blazer it will be a ‘thing’ and ill never stop having to have that conversation. If i wear anything too fashionable it will be a whole ‘thing’ with my grandmother.
Shooting for inoffensive cause i want to look nice but dont want to deal with people feeling judged by my presense in good clothes when theyre just kinda wearing whatever
Given that my mum is an old hippy that likes wearing patchwork leather pants, I'm free to ball out at any and all family occasions and not look like (that much) of a maniac.
I am also under permanent instructions to buy my brother clothes as presents because he does not care about looking nice at all
I think showing my tattoos would be more balls to the wall than anything I could put together for my Asian
Kinda same here eggtart except catholic
I like to coordinate fall colors with my sister. But this Thanksgiving, I'm wearing an orange sweater w/ white pants to match my white dog in his orange sweater
No I'm not scared of dropping food on my white pants. I'm built different
My conservative Asian family knows I'm into fashion. I can wear anything as long as it's not "gay" or "too feminine".
Me n my sister are the two fashionheads in our family, she resells a lot of her own and my stuff. She's really good at embroidery and I'm having her embroider a giant peace sign on the back of my strichtarn, v v excited
Cozy sweater is basically a must for me at late fall and winter holiday gatherings
The side of my family I do Thanksgiving with really doesn't care but I'm more likely to lean more formal and safe for these type of things in general.
I’m lucky to have a very chill family who wouldn’t bat an eye at me looking queer. For holidays I wear something just one step dressier than my norm, on par with what I’d wear to a nice restaurant, and maybe a hint of seasonality with the color palette.

Gonna say that cozy sweater and comfy pants is always the move for me with holiday events, especially with my family. Also a warm coat in case I need to go outside
