start steam once to at least the login screen
can't launch gamescope without a working steam install
I started steam before finishing the Bazzite setup but ill start it again and restart and see what it does
Start steam, login, return to game mode
Restarts the desktop environment.
Start steam again and have to login again
That means steam itself is crashing on you, what GPU are you using?

It was working just fine when i last had Bazzite installed, but i had to wipe my drive and reinstall so now it isnt working
Will give this a try. 7800 XT just got here so hopefully the issue persists there so I can get to the bottom of it
Another thing ill see is The Bazzite setup hanging on the first page of the installation, it doesn't seem to be doing anything

This could be an issue with steam
Or at least have something to do with a recent update
When i open steam it will crash first
Then when opened a second time promt a login
Do you have an iGPU in this system in addition to your dedicated one?
No, only dedicated
Try deleting ~/.local/share/Steam
see if it still happens after that

I installed Bazzite deck a few days ago with little issue aside from some weirdness with screen freezing and the installer being slow but gamescope worked after a restart
Hold on, i changed the name of my home folder during the install do you think that messed with any preconfigured paths?

how did you change it exactly?I did it by using the advanced option in user creation in the fedora installer

I even tried an older release of bazzite with the offline installers and it does the same thing
At the desktop there's nothing special happening

-steamdeck as a launch option and injecting extest for steam input
it's a standard steam launchIt reinstalled
so whatever is going on it affects a normal upstream steam install
I reinstalled steam logged in, then closed steam.
Return to game mode and it just reloads the desktop again
Start steam again and it once again tells me to login despite having had "remember me" checked

Steam will log you out if it crashes, we need to know why it's crashing
you could get a log of the gamescope-session-steam/gamescope-session-plus service see what it's blowing up on
Works on my end. Is your username different than the home directory name?
If it's not the same as what
id -nu 1000 prints then you'll have issues
If it is, let me know if getent passwd "$USER" | cut -d: -f6 is different
