2nd hand balmacaan
I’m looking for search queries/brands to find nice wool overcoats on vinted/ebay in Europe. I think I want a balmacaan (either navy, brown or a textured mid grey), but I’m open to other style of coats which can be worn casually.

Finding true 2nd hand Balmacaans really isn't easy! Be prepared for a lot of hunting around! I'd say that true Balmacaans, unfortunately, make up a small niche of long overcoats. The issue with Balmacaans is that people who know what makes a Balmacaan a Balmacaan will also demand a good / higher price; however there are also people who do not know the terminology and might just label it a generic overcoat, which makes it actually harder to search for true Balmacaans based on a specifc query. Having said that there are sooo many other overcoats that share many similarities with Balmacaans (biggest difference is the set-in sleeve vs. raglan sleeve for Balmacaans) and cost very little. I recently picked up an used navy long overcoat made from 100% wool, by a for me unknown brand, for 10€, which has almost all the qualities of a Balmacaan, except that it doesn't have raglan sleeves.

btw. can very much recommend Kynoch, they used to make some really good looking overcoats.

Thanks, I’ll keep looking! (I’m looking for a coat with raglan sleeves, yes, but not against set-in sleeves if otherwise I like the coat.)
I am, but in a quick check before I didn’t find one for coats. Maybe I wasn’t thorough enough, will double-check
Just take the suits one and change the category to coats/outerwear

I recently got an SEH Kelly Balmacaan for £260 second hand. Good deal. It was on Vinted.
Your best bet is grinding through overcoat and top coat. I’ve had some luck with tweed overcoat. You’ll find some under balmacaan and raglan overcoat but most sellers don’t know what a balmacaan is
Was looking for a brown tweed(not herringbone) overcoat and never bothered to check Vinted before reading this discussion. Now I just impulse bought a new tweed "balmacaan" from a rando Italian brand. 79€ is above my usual thrift budget, but this coat doesn't even have the belt loops sown on.
