Match Made in Heaven - Topic of the day 11/17/23
As the saying goes, “Apple pie without cheese is like Daiki Suzuki without fatigues.” What is a style combination that becomes greater than the sum of its parts? Are there particular garments, brands, or design elements that harmonize for you and work together like no other? What about unconventional pairings that make for attractive bedfellows?

Idk my answer yet but this is a great question
this is a deeply boring answer but any time i see corduroy with chunky knits and suede shoes, my brain produces good chemicals. i think just the vibes and texture of the three materials match so flawlessly i feel like it's almost impossible to go wrong!
A basic combo I like a lot is tall boot + cropped pant because the proportions lengthen legs and emphasize drape in motion. Contrast between wide hem and slim boot is fun too but there's a sweet spot I tend to aim for.
Unconventional pairing I like is tank top + blazer
Small pant big shirt, big pant small shirt are always fun. Agree with sal on cropped pant tall boot.
Will be trying apple pie and cheddar cheese this coming thursday
M65/field jacket + Breton shirt
From the fit battle, Issey Miyake and Westernwear
I mean realistically for me its gotta be high-low mixes, but thats more like apple pie and whipped cream
everyone loves it
ballcaps and blazers. it’s to the point where it feels wrong to wear a blazer with nothing on my head
Blazer alone feels stuffy. Blazer with a baseball hat tells me you can crush a cheap beer or two
Unconventional combination I want to explore this season is aloha shirts worn with f/w textiles. There’s an old Y’s Bis Limi collection which I can no longer locate that had these amazing coats with hawaiian floral motifs, the contrast has forever been an aspirational one for me.
Aloha shirts with tailoring is up there for me. Pretty common at this point but western wear with tailoring definitely a huge fave of mine as well. Fatigues with a blazer go hard too.
this is a great one
I really like casual ties with non-tailoring jackets, great scummy vibe
@plyisytwy your comment made me think of this fit that I loved
Y’s Bis Limi
This is a cool idea. Gonna have to try this.
