IOs app 1.86.0 not available

I've updated the server version, to find out I'm not able to use Immich from iOS devices because the latest version of the mobile app is not available. I've also tried joining TestFlight but it says it's unavailable

The release went out 7 hours ago, Apple can take a bit of time to approve the app

That's really annoying, my gf wanted me to backup her pictures I hope it comes through in a reasonable time Next time I'll check the app store before updating Any chance on getting TestFlight?

Yeah that will need an update

Honestly, how difficult it is to make things backward compatible? Or at least make a note in release notes that iOS app isn't available yet As a result, iOS is now not usable with immich after server upgrade

there is a "braking" note .. you just have to read it as well

Yes, I read it. It doesn't say - "DO NOT UPGRADE. iOS APP ISNT AVAILABLE YET."

ok I don´t feed the trolls so I end it here

It's not about trolling, but rather setting people expectations. It's not too late to update a release note, so more people not waste their time like I did. Just saying

It takes apple this time unusually long to make the review. most of the time the app is on the appstore just a few hours later.

ok I will feed .... "Please make sure you have toilet paper before going to the toilet, otherwise some unpleasant surprise might occur" . And yes I am sorry for the joke

You are not offering any useful suggestion by your comment, so you are trolling basically That's why we cannot have nice things

ok my suggestion is " if there is a braking update. please make sure that updates for IOS and Server are both available before updating" And I admit I did not check myself and my wife is trying to murder me now the last few hours 😆

The project states "under heavy development" and states braking changes in the release notes. The IOS app is released, but you can not know how long apple takes for the review. Most time it's fast. IMHO all is done to be informed.

That was my suggestion actually, not yours, lol, or part of it. I created a bug for this - https://github.com/immich-app/immich/issues/5042

Immich is currently in beta. Backwards compatibility is not rocket science, but it is extra effort that we would rather spend elsewhere. As we try to note basically everywhere:

yeah I am not sure why it takes so long this time hopefully the app will be released by the end of the date to day otherwise my wife is gonna strangle me

I agree that the notification to update should not be displayed before the app is released on all platforms, especially with breaking changes My wife is going to do the same I tried to rollback but since the update includes db migrations it's not possible

We don't really have a control over this. This is a catch of self hosting application with both the server and the mobile app, especially during development that is why we put in the warning in the release notes and encourage people to read the release note before an update

I understand nobody but apple has control over when an update will be released. But the release notes and the app notification can be changed as needed imh

noted as an opportunity for improvement especially for breaking changes speaking of the devil, app just changed status to be "In Review" so it should be out within the next hour

Just an idea. But can’t you submit the app for review, and then release everything at once after it’s been approved. That should avoid issues like this.

yeah we think we can do this for breaking changes like this one TBH this is the first breaking change that prevent logging in we have ever pushed out so still learning from experience here Thank you for the feedback
