That might also be a thick, black, woolen sport coat (either flannel wool, or cashmere, or camelhair, from the visual texture)
With the lapel popping out and it's hard to tell but maybe the collar raised
I think it's an overcoat but it's possible it's not. /shrug
The underside of the collar make me think that an overcoat, or topcoat
Yeah, the thing that likely ruins my alternate theory is 100% the underside of the collar, because they are rarely finished in the shell material.
