need advice for a semiformal event
should i wear a black shirt with a red tie or a white shirt with a red tie? (they're both dress shirts obv). also what kind of pants should i wear? my only real options are khakis or black jeans lol. additionally, what color shoes should i wear? thanks in advance !!

White shirt, khakis. Jeans aren't semiformal by most definitions, neither are black shirts
Do you have to wear a tie? If you do you should be wearing a nice jacket too
And leather shoes if you have them, any shade of brown

it’s an afterparty for a play i’m involved in, i think they just want everyone to look nice lol
id drop the tie then, unless everyone is wearing one
if you have to do tie and dont have a nice jacket, a sweater can work

Realistically for an afterparty I think you are gonna be fine with the khakis and white shirt as the safe option. Skip the tie. Black jeans in good condition and a black shirt are ... more on the higher risk side, if you catch my drift.
