Converting uploaded pages to autobuilt pages

Is there anyway (short of just deleting the page and remakeing it) to add a git repo to it?

Sadly no. You can direct upload (via wrangler) to either Git or Direct Upload Projects, but you can't convert a Direct Upload Project to a Git-based project.
