Overshirts under winter coats: how do I pull it off?
Hey everyone. As the title suggests, I'm wondering if it is possible to layer some "heavyweight" and regular overshirts under winter coats such as a duffel coat, pea coat, parka and puffer. The thing I'm really worried about is the length as most of these midlayers sport a slightly oversized fit and could overlap past the outer layer if it stops around the waist.

You''ll have to wear a few on a case-by-case basis and see what happens. This is the tricky thing about layering with oversized v non-oversized stuff
Big brain move would be just buying more oversized overcoats
True enough. I only see this work with duffel, top and mac coats
This might make a hoodie + overshirt an exclusively fall staple thickness wise as well
Agree with nay, if your coat is huge enough everything else will fit inside
Long as well I assume?
Unless it doesn't matter aesthetically which I really doubt
Past the knees at least imo
I guess coats stopping at the waist while the overshirts stretch a few inches longer is a big nono
Overcoats should absolutely go past the wait
Right above the knee is the minimum
Yeah, a pea coat will not work over a chore coat, really. You're looking at overcoats, which could be a duffel, but could be a polo coat, ulster coat, chesterfield, etc. The lengths of these are all over the place, some people prefer mid-calf or even lower, some people prefer mid thigh. I would lean more towards the just-above-knee - to - mid-calf lengths. Depends on how much you use it when sitting, walking, etc, and what the weather is like in terms of both temperature and precipitation.
For reference, this is what I mean by overshirt. A chore coat under a coat opens a can of worms that could include denim jackets, harrington jackets and so on that doesn't feel right to wear in that particuliar context
Most of my jackets hit at least mid butt to avoid this, it helps that i'm not a huge fan of jackets that only hit the waist like trucker jackets
