Data size on iPhone
Hi, I’m currently testing Immich and it looks very close to what I need. However I’m somewhat confused with the size of the app data. My photo library on my phone is 3.83GB, and Immich data are 11.97GB. Might have grown even more as it saturated my phone storage. How does the Immich app handle photos? Are they all duplicated? Are the photos in shared albums all downloaded? If someone has some insight, please let me know what I am missing.
Thanks!

Hello, those can be the cache and the hash calculation information
We’ll, thanks for your reply but… that’s a huge cache ?! 😁
I guess my local photos only cannot create such a cache and I doubt hash info takes so much space. What is the strategy regarding shared albums? Are they downloaded and cached the same way the local photos are? In this case, is there a way to exclude them from Immich?
I mean iCloud shared albums.
I can't answer for iCloud Share Albums since I don't use either
I guess if you don’t know how shared albums are handled by the Immich iPhone app, nobody will 😊. Thanks!
In my experience Immich backs up shared albums the same as regular albums. You just need to make sure you specify that album (since photos uploaded by other people aren’t saved in your recents album) and they’re saved locally (i.e. Optimise photos on device is off)
Thanks for sharing your experience, I’ll dig that.
