Meermin Sizing/General Loafer sizing
Been a Red Wing and Sneaker guy forever and am just now starting to consider some loafers - if I don't have a way to try stuff on, is going down a half size from my regular shoe size a good idea, or will this likely be too tight?

It really depends on the brand. I generally go true to my sneaker size but even that depends on the sneaker you’re talking about.
It’s unfortunate cause I wear vans which I think have weird sizing, although in recent years they might have switched to be more tts
I wear a US 9 in most everything and went with a UK 8 for my Meermin snuff tassel loafers
I could have managed a 7.5 but I was worried they would have stretched in an ugly manner or have been too tight to wear with socks
In general it is going to depend how you want the loafer to fit/if you’re going to wear it sockless vs with socks and also if it is lined or unlined
I believe (others feel free to correct me) that general advice is to size 1/2 down for an unlined loafer
And that’s with socks?
A lot of people just go barefoot in unlined loafers but I am not 100% sure so others should chime in as well
I’m an 11 in vans, 10.5 in new balance, and a 10.5 in most loafers. I have wider feet though so a 10 is the “ideal” length but I need a bit more width.
