favorite mary ianes?
Girlfriend expressed interested in getting a pair and I wanna surprise her with some for her bday. Looking for sub $200 but open to a little higher if they are super cool

it depends on what her style is like! mary janes are quite popular so there’s a big variety out there between delicate styles with thin straps and big chunky doc martens. black is classic but reds are also great & burgundy/cranberry colors are very in right now

I think she is looking for something chunkier like the doc style ones. I showed her a pair from Solovair that she was lukewarm on though so i’m at a bit of a loss now
tbh the docs and solovair ones are a bit of a departure from the normal style since they’ve got a more T shaped strap
Yah i think she prefers the more classic construction without the T shape

I think they’re cool, but it’s a matter of taste—the straps have a different shape and the sole is pretty flat compared to a lot of other styles that look more feminine

out of the list rej shared earlier I think vagabond looks most promising—miu miu and margiela are way out of budget, docs aren’t her style, and camper might have something but it looks like slim pickings in terms of style and color rn (still worth looking though)

Vagabond seemed to have several options. I liked campers best but think my wife was after something chunkier

my silly (95% likely to be a miss) suggestion is american duchess, who make some 1920s styled mary janes with a very curvy historical heel shape
Those are very cool but not what she is looking for i think. She likes more the 90’s-00’s chunky version
