Correct way of moving everything to a new install
Hello.
I installed immmich via docker compose on unraid.
After not being able to reverse proxy this installation for several reasons, I moved to the immich community app.
I wanted to migrate everything, but after asking and being told that I couldnt, I deleted everything and installed from scraatch. But I kept the photos folder. And I want to add every photo to my new installation.
Could you explain me how to do this?
In the service installation, I set the photos path to /photos/immich2, and all my previous photos are stored in /photos/immich.
Thanks!

Hello, you could migrate from the docker-compose to the AIO image by editing the photo path and adding another variable. That being said, if you want to import your assets you have two solutions: Re-uploading them with the CLI or using the new library feature. If you want to use the library feature, I advise you to use the
/import
folder and set the access mode to Read in your Immich settingsand can i find any documantation about this new feature? because I'm trying to import, but im missing something
In your Imich settings, set the
import
path to the folder on your unraid machine containing your assets. Then, in Immich go the admin section > Users > Edit the user and set /import
for the external path. Then go to your account settings > Libraries > Create external Library and add a new path and set it to /import
Ok. This is working. Thank you so much.
Also wonder if there is a way to merge both libraries in the default one
If upload every file from the old library to the new one, would it be a solution to have only one library?
Yes it's a good solution. If you don't mind uploading again you can totally do it. If you have a big library, generating all thumbnails, encoding your videos and recognize all faces can take some time and hurt your CPU
