How to remove photos from timeline without disabling sync?
Hi again π
I found a discussion in github, where it states that the photos which are shown in the timeline, are those which are synced.
That's not my usecase, I just want to see the camera roll and sync all media on my phone, is that possible?
In addition to that, I tried the workaround and removed "recent" and just added the camera roll to sync, but since I already backed everything up, my timeline does not change, is that a bug?

Any update for this?
That's not my usecase, I just want to see the camera roll and sync all media on my phone, is that possible? Can you elaborate on this?
Lets take Google Photos for example, because thats what I am trying to replace.
If I open the app, the timeline shows only the photos which are made from my camera. Since I am in a couple of WhatsApp groups, where a lot of photos are shared, those are in my timeline as well. And that is something I personally just want to see in the album tab.
The only way I found was to remove "recent" from the to be synchronized photos and change it to "camera". At least thats what I found in the github discussion. Since the app is under heavy development β€οΈ I was hoping for a change which I havend found yet.
And as I said, I tried that workaround and I would say that it is a bug, that the timeline does not change, if I change the scope of synchronized photos, but maybe there is a misunderstanding on my side π
Let me describe what you are trying to achieve. You want to be able to see only the photos from the Camera folder on the timeline and not the photos from the WhatsApps folder, is that correct?
correct and still sync all my photos into the cloud π
I mean if the photos are already backed up and sent to the server, they shouldnt be deleted by some local only changes.
Immich doesnt reflect those kind of changes, as it 'just' uploads new files, which aren't already present on the Immich instance
(im not a dev, but this is how it works)
Ah we donβt have such mechanism
Shouldn't that be "just" a filter on the front page? Show Album XYZ vs Show all?
Afaik when uploading images, there is no differenciation between albums
When using the upload feature there is just this single location of all images
yeah, I noticed that already. The problem with that approach is, that immich seems to know which files are already synced. So lets say I have synced my whatsapp photos and everything else, change the data which has to be synced, the timeline won't change, because, as you already mentioned, the whats app photos are already synced and in the cloud
yea but thats also how gphotos behave
If i only delete the local photos, they will stay in the cloud
If you want the files to be deleted, you have to delete them from the mobile app
(Im also just new user, but thats what i figured out)
I do not want them to be deleted, I have never said something like that π
Ahmm mb then! I just thought because it says 'remove' in the title
This would be a better fit for the search revamp
Is the timeline calculated on the server? Maybe I can help there, because I have never been working with svelte
at least it feels like it, if I read asset-date-group.svelte right, getAssets seems to be the entry point for everything - I would think that the albums/folder work like that, but I havent digged into that
