How long are sneakers supposed to last?
The last few sneakers I bought (NMDs, a pair of On Runnings), basically disintegrated around 1 year; the bottom layer of material would wear down, a hole would appear around the forefoot (the On Runnings even had the bottom layer peel away completely). While I'm not a light person (~220 lbs), and walk a ton (avg. 8k steps on a typical in-office day), I expect sneakers to last a bit longer than a year.
Am I misguided about this, or am I buying the wrong sneakers?

a pair of leather sneakers would probably last you longer, or even just something known a little more for construction
new balance, hokas, salamon?
Something like that
If you want your sneakers to last longer I would rotate between two pairs
My leather sneakers that I dailyed in the past last 1.5-2 years. Regular sneakers like vans or converse in the past lasted 6-12 months if worn daily.
I don’t wear my shoes daily anymore
My wallabees are the last shoes I wore basically every day and they lasted a little over a year
What Charli said i would also recommend periodically cleaning your shoes which will extend the life of them as well
from where your shoes are wearing out sounds like you need a beefier sole, also what charli said about rotating
I used to think leather shoes were superior but my Adidas Ultraboost Triple Black is still alive and well after more than a decade of a lot of walking through the rain. I even used it for running a few times
I still use em today, lol. For when I need soft shoes to walk in
