unhappy with altered suit

I thrifted a double breasted suit by what I understand to have been a good suitmakers brand when they were operating. I had it altered as it was too large, but I am very unhappy with the results, and I even paid £60 for taking in the waist of the jacket and letting out the trousers. Not sure what to do from here? There is puckering in the chest towards my right shoulder and the lapel buckles outwards. There appears to be shoulder divots as well, which were not present before the alteration was done. I am at a bit of a loss

They had you try it on after the alterations, right? Did you bring up these concerns to the tailor?

No, I was in a rush picking it up and it was a different guy at the alteration's when I picked it up

Seems like they took in the waist badly. The chest and shoulders are probably caused by them just taking out cloth on the seam under the arm. I'd try to get my money back and then go to a different tailor who knows what he's doing. Fwiw 60$ is not too much for those alterations depending on where you live. It's just that this job was done poorly.

I went back and he insisted that it needed to be pressed at a dry cleaner. Weird thing is they say they do dry cleaning on their shop sign so I don't know why they couldn't press it in that case. I am not confrontational so I may just cut my losses and bring it to another tailor to see if it can be salvaged. I'm glad to hear the price wasn't too extortionate either. I guess that's what I get for going to the nearest tailor rather than travelling for a good one

I drive one hour to my tailor. You want it done once and done right.

I'm in London and I don't drive so I would need to bring it on public transport. You make a good point still though

You can transport it in a garment bag. Costs like 10 bucks

I got a bunch of really cheap ones from Ikea. They stapled through it with the receipt as I left my garment bag with them 😭
